Video

[When the feed starts, Elizabeth is right in the center of the frame, dressed in her uniform, giving off a very formal but pleasant attitude. She practiced this. Several times.]

Good morning, everyone. For those of you who I haven't met yet, my name is Elizabeth DeWitt, head librarian. Recently, I was promoted by our captains to the position of First Mate, meaning I have taken on additional responsibilities to the crew aside from encouraging everyone to visit the library and make use of the collection. [Little plug there, forgive her.]

As First Mate, I'll be acting as a liaison between the crew and the captains, should anyone have an issue they would feel more comfortable speaking to me about, or if the captains are off ship. Once I've moved in, my quarters will be located in Section M and I encourage anyone to find me there or at the library if you need me.

...I realize not all of us are happy to find ourselves here, however I am one of the potentially few who very easily call this ship my home. Whatever can be done to make things more efficient, safe, or comfortable, I want to discuss it. But, at the same time, if you just want a reading recommendation and some hot chocolate, I can provide that as well.

[She nods, clearly satisfied with the message and smiles, looking a little relieved that she got through the spiel without embarrassing herself.] I think that about wraps it up, but if there's anything else please feel free to message me. Thank you!

Well-- Yes, it has.

[ The words cause Elsa to relax slightly. It's in part because it sounds as though she won't really be interrupting anything, and in part because... Well, she picks up on the undertone in Elizabeth's words. She gets the feeling the other woman understands the feeling to some extent, which gives her some more confidence in the idea of actually talking to her about the situation.

After a moment of silent deliberation, Elsa nods. ]

All right. If you're certain. Shall I meet you in the library, then? It shouldn't take me too long to get there, I'm not terribly far...

[ As the video feed comes to an end, Elsa lowers her arm and purses her lips, releasing a long breath through her nose. She's shaking just the tiniest bit as she stands from her bed and makes her way to the door. It's intimidating, the idea of taking this particular information to someone of such a high rank of the ship--but she reminds herself of how kind and understanding Elizabeth seemed, and that helps to keep her steady as she makes her way out of the room and down the hallways toward the library.

She's dressed in her general ship uniform, as has become her norm since joining the crew here, not wanting to stand out in any kind of way. And the outfit she'd arrived in certainly stood out amongst the ship's grey halls. It's been a relatively effective way of keeping to herself when she has to leave her room, the best she's got, anyway.

As she'd said, it doesn't take her too long to arrive at the library, and she steps in on uncertain feet. Blue eyes cast a glance around the area quickly, and soon pinpoint the woman she'd just been speaking with. With only a moment of hesitation, she walks over and offers Elizabeth a small, friendly wave. ]

Hello again. [ She smiles slightly--a little forced, but not unfriendly. ] I believe I forgot to thank you for being so willing to speak with me on such short notice.

[ Elsa smiles a little more genuinely with amusement at Elizabeth's response, and quickly looks to the chairs as they're gestured to. Carefully, she steps around to one and takes a seat. Her posture is proper, if stiff, and her hands immediately fold in her lap. With the amount of nerves she's dealing with now, she's worried that touching anything would instantly leave behind frost. ]

Oh! Perhaps, if you wouldn't mind. I'd...rather not be interrupted, if possible.

[ Though it hasn't worked terribly well so far, she is still trying to keep her abilities, and moreso, her troubles with them, quiet across the ship. She doesn't want anyone to be able to walk in and hear her admitting to her fears about them. ]

Not that I want to keep anyone from the library, of course, but... It is something I'd rather the whole ship not know.

[ She smiles again with weak amusement, her hands balling up unconsciously in her lap. ]

So... You know how it feels?

[ Elsa's not surprised--she got that feeling while they were talking over the network--but to hear Elizabeth admit it aloud... Well, she wasn't expecting it. However, it does make her more comfortable with the idea of talking to her about this. Even if she's thus far unsure of how exactly the other woman can relate. ]

But-- Yes, I think it needs to be discussed with someone who can perhaps help me...keep the rest of the crew safer.

[ Okay. It's time to actually talk about it. Discuss her situation and perhaps make her request. Elsa hesitates here for a moment, but presses on. ]

You see, I have these powers... The ability to create and control snow and ice. However, it's... It's not something I have very strong control over, and I have a tendency to make things happen without meaning to. In most cases, it's emotion based.

What concerns me is that I may accidentally harm other crew members. --It's... It's something that's happened back at home. I worry particularly about my roommates. One of them is able to put a ward around me to keep any magic from affecting the rest of the room, but I worry about that failing, or her not being around to put it up for some reason.

Essentially...I'm a danger to everyone here, possibly even the ship itself, and I... I'm rather at a loss for what to do.

[ Elsa's surprised when Bruce's name is brought up. She glances across the desk at Elizabeth with slight skepticism, but nods slowly. It's...an idea, for sure. She's not sure how she feels about having a device keep her powers under control, but if it prevented anyone from getting hurt... ]

I suppose that might be possible. Though I'm not certain that magic can always be replicated scientifically. --Not that I would really know anything about that.

[ It's just an assumption, but she's not even entirely sure what the science here is truly capable of. Maybe it can replicate magic, including Rosethorn's wards. It may be worth a try, though she doesn't want to bother Bruce with more work. ]

He's helping me already, actually. Bru-- Er, Doctor Banner. He's been teaching me meditative exercises to help control my emotions. It's something that I want to keep doing, so perhaps one day I can be the one controlling my powers, but some assistance until then...may be a good idea.

[ Although it's clear in her face that she's uncertain, and not entirely fond of the idea of having something else controlling her--even if it would be safer. ]
