So, here's the thing. I get that most of us don't want to be here.
[let's start by acknowledging that, alright? Emma doesn't want this. she's new, she's pissed, and all she wants is to get back home to her son. there's a role she's being forced into here that she'd like to totally ignore, but that's only going to make her life harder in the long run.
if playing along is what's going to get her home, then she's playing along - for now.]
It's apparently enough of an issue that I've been enlisted as a personnel retrieval officer. What that means for you is that if you're not where you need to be, I'll have to find you, and then I'll have to escort you to the right place. you can try getting out of it but I have almost too much experience in this sort of thing, and I always get my guy.
[it's being a bailbondsperson all over again. she may not want to do this, but she's perfectly capable of it.]
So show up for work, alright? This sucks enough on it's own without any of us making it worse.

[Correction number one from the sassy teenage girl responding to this post.]
Also, what if our jobs are totally wrong? Like, oh, I don't know--putting someone who has zero medical experience to work in the medbay, like she's going to know what she's doing.
[Seriously, "use your magic to help the technicians?" Could they have come up with a lamer way to say they had no idea what to do with her?]
And unless you're boasting some sort of wicked power? There's probably going to be a couple of guys you can't actually get.

[No comment on the powers. Emma would like to keep what advantages she has quiet for now. She's not going to lose the element of surprise to impress or piss off a kid. Besides, someone this young being assigned that kind of work doesn't sit well with her. She thought she was going to get adults to contribute to this crap, not force kids to work against their will.]
Did you mention that anyone?

[ Yeah, this is. This is not good. Generally, Alice is on the side of maintaining order and pitching in. But this means that she might actually have to clean — and, you know, beyond that it just doesn't bode well for ship freedoms. ]
so who watches the watchmen on this? what if you don't do your job, who comes after you?
[ Could she just not do her job? ]
text;
[ Look, it's not a job she wants to do. Normally she'd be all about rising up and doing what they want - but until they've tried everything to get back home, they have to give this whole community of helpers crap a chance. Who knows, it might even work.]

Wowie! Now that sounds like a difficult job! Best of luck to you; you're going to need it. But not for me; I love my job and do it all the time!

[And also, she's still learning what she's up against.]
That's... good, you're probably first one to tell me that.
[Sorry, at this point she doesn't know how to respond to someone being nice.]

Oh dear, sounds like you're going to be busy. How will you know if someone is slacking off? You have little mice spying on us?

[It fits her skillset, but it doesn't make her feel like she's helping someone.]
Until we can find a way home, we all have to deal with it.

It sounds like job placement has been a little inconsistent here.
