I can definitely see your problem.

Oil is good for removing wax. Peanut oil, mineral oil, baby oil... those types. If you have something you can use to reach all the waxed parts, blot them and then you should be able to wipe it off after you let it set for a little bit. You may have to repeat it a couple of times depending on how much there is.
