Hey everyone. I've been designated as the new head chef following Loki's resignation, along with the co-head chef Nathaniel Saunders. I just wanted to say that if you have any concerns or feedback that you ought to direct it to us now, not Loki. Same goes to all our lovely assistants who work in the kitchens.

That being said, I wanted to remind everybody that if you have some type of complaint about the variety of foods in our meals, or lack thereof, it's a supply problem. We've only got so many types of ingredients in stock and most of them are your fundamentals, like flour and potatoes.

Everyone did a great job bringing spices and such from home and the Collective over the last couple months, so we're okay for now - but it won't last forever unless we keep up with it. If you want meals to stay at the level of quality we're at now, please remember to bring in foodstuffs whenever possible when we stop for supplies!

Anyway, that's all. The mess hall schedule won't be changing or anything like that. Thanks for your attention.

If someone described some really garbage fast food to you, do you think you could try replicating it? I know, I know, it's terrible for you, but a guy gets attached.

See, there's this hole-in-the-wall place in Spain that I used to love to go to—incredibly greasy burgers, but the grease sort of enhanced them, I'm not sure how. It really did something to the flavor. Hardened my arteries like hell, but no one lives forever.
sketchycharacter: (now wait a guldarn minute)

[personal profile] sketchycharacter 2016-06-26 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but it had to be the right kind of grease, with the right cheese in everything in the right proportions...it's a lot more complicated than you'd think. Trust me, I've tried.

I'll see if I can remember all the details and get you a list. Here's hoping, right?

oh my, someone's positively glowing today, isn't she? congratulations on the step up.

how cold! and after spending so much time apart. i'm hurt.

after labeling yourself as 'inorganic' too! from our conversation, i though you'd prefer people recognize you as distinctly human. were you trying to make a point or is playing both sides some sort of hobby for you?
trap_factory: (♊ I cannot say that I was not warned)

[personal profile] trap_factory 2016-06-28 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
of course you don't. i'd hate to accidentally ruin that sweet personality you have on display for everyone. but you don't seem the type to come up with such a terrible idea. it's kinda tasteless and you seem like a good girl with a strong moral compass. so maybe you were doing it in the heat of the moment?

there's another gentleman aboard who likes to play pretend at being inorganic. maybe i ought to be offended but i can't imagine why he'd want to pretend to be one of us.

or should i say like me?

hmmm what a conundrum...

[the next set of messages come separately but in rapid succession. A feat that shouldn't be possible if he's just typing but... He's probably not actually typing his responses into the MID]

> how rude! [was he referring to her first line or...]

> rinzler can be a surprisingly interactive wall to talk to if you know how to knock him down. still i can't tell if you're doing this to try and hurt my feelings or if you've sincerely forgotten.

> I never wanted to be anything other than what I always had been. I wasn't some kind of warrior or something... and I didn't ask to be turned into this.

> And I'm also not interested in you speaking for me as an "inorganic."

> there's probably more but a sensible girl like you has probably hidden it away so I can't access it. not a bad habit to have. though... it might be a stretch to call it 'fate'. rinzler's situation rings a little close to home, doesn't it? though I guess that's old news and we're probably better off not getting involved in his mess.

[... he wasn't actually expecting her to be so straightforward. It's nice not that anyone would ever be able to tell, jackass that Prometheus is]

oh! i like you more than that other girl from ages ago; at least you've given thought to what you've said vs just blatantly lying with no creativity or thought at all! (it was quite the disappointment)

normally i wouldn't care if people could read this or not, but consider this a token of respect from me to you... and because rinzler seems to have become something of a touchy subject lately. haha.

i just wanted to make sure you weren't conflating the two. there's an idiot aboard who sincerely believes that technology alone can blur the line between organics and inorganics... but you should be in a prime position to understand the differences between the two.

[Napoleon will go for extravagant even with the type of food available.]

The variety is simply a challenge to overcome.

Congratulations. I bought us a lot of vegetables - well, a few vegetables - and a peach tree, so...hopefully we'll have those for the kitchen.

And if you ever need extra bread...I can help. [He says, as though this is a perfectly normal thing to say.]
