[It takes him a minute to figure out how to work the MID. Sure, he's from 2287, but he's far too used to the bulkier tech with lots of nobs and buttons and switches.]

My name's William. I've been assigned as the Child Protection Officer.

[He wonders if the captains have a really twisted sense of humor. "Hey, let's give the guy with the kidnapped son the job of looking after all the children!" Either way, it's his job and he intends to do it.]

What that means is, I'm supposed to make sure you rascals are safe. So, yeah, don't run with scissors, or play with fire, yadda yadda. [He's obviously joking, but after a moment he adds with a little less of his joking tone:] If any of you feel like you're in some kind of danger or need any kind of help, feel free to contact me.

[Quickly adding:]

Kidding, kidding.

[That is a giant goat looking monster. Granted William has been treated to the sight of much worse back home, this was still out of the norm. But her skin isn't falling off, she's not foaming at the mouth, and she has an overall pleasant demeanor, so it's cool.]

Why the hell are there only two of us?

[The bluntness of his question earns a laugh from the monster.] I wish I knew, dear, I really knew!

There have been an influx of children and one would think it would require more care givers or protection.

[He appreciates the laugh, even if no joke was told. But the real joke is the situation, isn't it?]

An influx? [Long suffering sigh.] You would think that'd be a priority.

[At this point both of their lives are a joke. Toriel can at least find some humor in it.]

I like to believe the Captains are as surprised as we are by new arrivals. Particularly when a good amount of them end up being children. I'll see about asking for further aid in the child care department. There should be someone else we can add as help.

Well, at the very least, someone already said she was going to talk to the captains about switching to child protective duties. So that's one more for us.

Ah! Wonderful! [Toriel visibly brightens up at that, excited at the prospect of more help.] More the merrier, I'd say.

The children can be quite spirited here. I know my own only add to it when they get adventure on the mind.

[He is going to learn that the hard way for sure.]

Wait. You have your children here with you?

Yes! All three of them are here. I will admit I am relieved they're here, even if they tend to get into a bit of mischief from time to time.

[Three of them. William is still intimidated by having one sometimes.

He's also thinking about the possibility of his own kid ending up here now.]

This may not be the most ideal situation, but it's good you can keep an eye on your kids.

[Internal parental fretting...]
