AER9 laser pistol. [He holds it up.] The Ingress didn't like me having ammo for it, so, yeah. Gotta fix that. It usually takes fusion cells but, hey, if someone can jury rig it to take something that easier to get, I'll go for it.

Doesn't look much like the blasters back home. Lot less colorful. Ought to paint it.

Hey, yeah, that's a good idea. Do you think you could help me with that? I'm shit at color. [Coloring is a good activity for kids, he knows that. So coloring a laser pistol is totally an appropriate entertainment.]

I've got one person who says they can get it working.

Yeah, I can. What kind of colors do you like? I just gotta find some paint.

Man, tough choice. Red and green would be like, "Merry Christmas, have a laser blast to the face from me to you." Purple and pink would be "My gun shoots death...and sparkles!" Hey, maybe purple and blue. What do you think?

[There's a practical reason behind the color choice. Whatever colors it ends up, he's still going to have to stealth with this gun.]

What's wrong with sparkles? [Because that sounds a little like criticism and she knows someone with a bright pink gun.]

I like blue! And purple. I can work with that and make ya somethin' jazzy.

There's nothing wrong with sparkles, sparkles are great, it's just that I like sequins better. Blue and purple sequins. But we don't have any sequins, so we'll just stick to blue and purple and I'll imagine the sequins.

Sequins are pretty hard to find. [She agrees, treating the conversation dead serious.] Soon as I find the right paints, I'll spruce it up for ya. Make your gun the talk of the town.

Sequins have gotta be universal. Who wouldn't love little round glitter disks? Alien or not?
