[When the feed starts, Elizabeth is right in the center of the frame, dressed in her uniform, giving off a very formal but pleasant attitude. She practiced this. Several times.]
Good morning, everyone. For those of you who I haven't met yet, my name is Elizabeth DeWitt, head librarian. Recently, I was promoted by our captains to the position of First Mate, meaning I have taken on additional responsibilities to the crew aside from encouraging everyone to visit the library and make use of the collection. [Little plug there, forgive her.]
As First Mate, I'll be acting as a liaison between the crew and the captains, should anyone have an issue they would feel more comfortable speaking to me about, or if the captains are off ship. Once I've moved in, my quarters will be located in Section M and I encourage anyone to find me there or at the library if you need me.
...I realize not all of us are happy to find ourselves here, however I am one of the potentially few who very easily call this ship my home. Whatever can be done to make things more efficient, safe, or comfortable, I want to discuss it. But, at the same time, if you just want a reading recommendation and some hot chocolate, I can provide that as well.
[She nods, clearly satisfied with the message and smiles, looking a little relieved that she got through the spiel without embarrassing herself.] I think that about wraps it up, but if there's anything else please feel free to message me. Thank you!

[Sucking up? Totally fine-- though more or less unnecessary with her. Aside from more personal things, Elizabeth feels like it's her job to be transparent with the crew. Give them any information she can to make them feel more at ease with... whatever happens to be happening on the Moira.]

[ And she's much more interested in specifics. ]
It's so weird that there are so many locked doors, though. Do you know why they're all locked? I didn't get a chance to ask my friends about it.

I think most of the rooms are locked simply because there's no use for them at the moment. When I began work on the library, I was given one of these rooms and when it was unlocked for me it was just empty. I imagine it was the same for Doctor Dufosset and Allison when they opened their Safe Space and the cafe.
But a few weeks ago, we experienced a power failure, which opened one of these doors. Inside was... one of the former crew members who seemed to have been changed into something that actively hunted us and killed one of the captains. We had to herd it back into one of these rooms and lock it in.
So I really recommend that if you're curious, you find something else to satisfy it... just in case.

[ It does seem that at least they're being transparent about some of this, but she wonders if there isn't more that they're not being told. ]
I think I'll stick to safer mysteries. Can the ships computer scan for lives or other items in those locked rooms or is it a blind spot for us?

[And really, nobody wanted to get close enough long enough to get a reading, probably.]
We could try, though without opening the door I don't know that we'd get accurate readings on whether there was something in there, or if it was actually empty.

[ Because Natasha can admit that she very much doesn't know anything about what the technology on this ship can or cannot do, let alone how to work it. ]
The fewer surprises, I think the safer we'll all feel, don't you?

I know Doctor Banner. We're friends.
[ It's a lie that's becoming easier and easier to tell. As if they've ever been anything as simple as friends. ]
I'll see if he has any insight into it. Maybe he and I can figure something out.

If he does, please let me know or let him to let me know-- anything that happens with the rooms, any dangers, I want to be fully aware of and make the captains aware of.

[ Unless, for any reason, she doesn't think it's a good idea, but Elizabeth doesn't have to know that. ]
I want everyone to be safe. I'm glad that we're of the same mind on that, Ms. Dewitt. What is your rank, exactly?
no subject
[How she jumped 25 ranks in six months is a little mind-boggling to her still. But, hard work and so forth.]

[ Natasha gives her a bright smile. ]

[It feels like it separates her from everyone else.]
