Good morning, everyone. For those of you who I haven't met yet, my name is Elizabeth DeWitt, head librarian. Recently, I was promoted by our captains to the position of First Mate, meaning I have taken on additional responsibilities to the crew aside from encouraging everyone to visit the library and make use of the collection. [Little plug there, forgive her.]

As First Mate, I'll be acting as a liaison between the crew and the captains, should anyone have an issue they would feel more comfortable speaking to me about, or if the captains are off ship. Once I've moved in, my quarters will be located in Section M and I encourage anyone to find me there or at the library if you need me.

...I realize not all of us are happy to find ourselves here, however I am one of the potentially few who very easily call this ship my home. Whatever can be done to make things more efficient, safe, or comfortable, I want to discuss it. But, at the same time, if you just want a reading recommendation and some hot chocolate, I can provide that as well.

[She nods, clearly satisfied with the message and smiles, looking a little relieved that she got through the spiel without embarrassing herself.] I think that about wraps it up, but if there's anything else please feel free to message me. Thank you!

[True, they haven't tried to abuse her powers yet, but...one really can't blame Wanda for being uneasy given her own history. Freely offering it like this is one of the greatest signs of trust Wanda can give.]

[Oh Peter. She may only be a few years older than you, but noooo. Wanda's one of her best friends, like hell is she going to let her friend's brother handle her undergarments. She has no idea how to respond, so she just laughs nervously.]

Huh. Well, to each his own, I guess. [Steinman in Rapture had been doing some... interesting things with surgery, insisting on perfection and symmetry and all that unrealistic insanity. It's definitely not something she'd consider, but if someone wanted to do that to themselves, who was she to say they couldn't?]

Him and Stark get along pretty well. JB just wants to play and was licking him too much, but they're okay now.

I understand. I know we don't know much about them, and they don't know very much about what's going on, but... I don't see an alternative right now. If we demand they step down, it'll turn into a free-for-all power grab. It'll be chaos.

But if something starts happening... I'll be the first to try to stop it. I can promise you that.

I'm so glad to hear that it's been helpful to you. I've always hoped that it would be a place people could find some familiarity in, or at least a quiet place to spend as much time as you want in. I don't mind at all. It's there to be used.

[She has... suspicions that she knows who she's talking to, but she's not one-hundred percent sure just yet.]

Most everybody does. I'm going to do everything I can to make sure we get everyone home as soon as we can.

JB just, sort of acts without thinking sometimes. I don't know if he realizes that he's not as big or that Stark could've been dangerous.

I think I'll stick to safer mysteries. Can the ships computer scan for lives or other items in those locked rooms or is it a blind spot for us?

I can't say I've tried it, but you might run into the same problem we had with Ploiatos-- he seemed to... suck the energy right out of the air. Lights always flickered or shut off when he was in the vicinity. I don't remember if he had a life sign...

[And really, nobody wanted to get close enough long enough to get a reading, probably.]

We could try, though without opening the door I don't know that we'd get accurate readings on whether there was something in there, or if it was actually empty.

Oh ouch, six months and I still look like this is my first time aboard a space ship? [She winces in good humor-- is it odd that she's so comfortable joking with a grizzled man? Not to her.]

Yes, this is definitely my first time. The year I came from was 1959. What about you?
