[The video feed here is set up very much like he's filming an orientation video; he knows little else other than strict formality here, but...when it comes to his school, he would say he finds the professionalism appropriate.]

The purpose for this is twofold, so I suppose I'll just get started.

Over the last few weeks of getting settled into this environment, learning its...well "intricacies" is a small word for it, perhaps eccentricities is better, I believe now more than ever that we need some tangible return to normalcy. I would like to have the school-- [and with the video feed he links something that looks very much like an old-school brochure, (which will very much omit the whole "subbasement" part of the post (and is not icly-literal).).] --up and running within the month. We have the faculties and facilities for a number of traditional subjects: literature, biology, philosophy, physical education [though it might sound like he means something very different by this] and a few other outliers, but we are still very much in need of some help in the history and mathematics departments. (Though I'll take more esoteric lessons under advisement).

[He pauses then, and his demeanor shifts entirely, shifting from cold to amiably warm like he's flipped a switch.]

As for the second point, and no less salient: it is my understanding that I am not the only one of my kind here, and that we are not, perhaps, the only ones particularly gifted. For those of you who may not identify as mutants, I would love the opportunity to speak with you about the nature of your powers.

[He pauses to consider that request for a moment, and follows up with an addendum:]

If any of you are comfortable doing so.

No kidding. [It's wry and a little tired, the tone of someone who had to educate herself because nobody else thought of it.] Too bad the lessons of these planets can't carry much further than here.

Mm, it's impossible to be prepared if you don't know the rules. Sciences, I think, dictate the 'rules' of a particular place, maybe moreso than politics. And the arts... well, they tell you something about the heart and soul of it.

Mm. I've been around a few city blocks. [Different places and times, but all of them had their individual problems. So many of them didn't value education enough, and Columbia and Rapture... one could say they suffered from too much thought and unchecked philosophy.]

[But she laughs at the image of politicians arguing while floating in zero gravity, because that's the first thing that comes to mind after that statement.]
It's true. A meteor doesn't care how persuasive you are-- but that's not to say it doesn't have its value. Persuasion, I mean.

What, you don't think we should only focus on how things collide with other things and why? I'm stunned. Biologists.

[There is a healthy amount of sarcasm there, of course. And for a moment Elizabeth actually feels... comfortable?]

So. Is this the interview, or are you expecting something a little more formal from me later on?

Oh, would you oblige me? I love wasting other peoples' time, especially if it means I get to waste my time too. [This kind of automatic faith in her is little odd, yes, but Elizabeth can't say she doesn't like it. Trust is something she hasn't felt in a long, long time, and it makes her just a bit nostalgic. Maybe even hopeful. Day by day this place seems to surprise her, and she understands why she'd apparently loved it.]

[Maybe she can love it again.]

I suppose I have to figure out how to be a teacher now.

Indulge... How did you know I equate job interviews with eating bon bons in a bubble bath? [This is fun, banter is fun. It's been a while (at least, from what she remembers) that she's had this kind of silly conversation. She likes it, she thinks this might be the right way to go even. This could be the next step in her building a life in this timeline.]

I suppose I'm halfway there, then. I'm at least willing to do what I can.

Oh God, if there's a job where all you do is sit in a bubble bath, sign me up. It might be too good to be true, but I'm willing to play the fool if it meant there was even a chance it's real.
