[The video feed here is set up very much like he's filming an orientation video; he knows little else other than strict formality here, but...when it comes to his school, he would say he finds the professionalism appropriate.]

The purpose for this is twofold, so I suppose I'll just get started.

Over the last few weeks of getting settled into this environment, learning its...well "intricacies" is a small word for it, perhaps eccentricities is better, I believe now more than ever that we need some tangible return to normalcy. I would like to have the school-- [and with the video feed he links something that looks very much like an old-school brochure, (which will very much omit the whole "subbasement" part of the post (and is not icly-literal).).] --up and running within the month. We have the faculties and facilities for a number of traditional subjects: literature, biology, philosophy, physical education [though it might sound like he means something very different by this] and a few other outliers, but we are still very much in need of some help in the history and mathematics departments. (Though I'll take more esoteric lessons under advisement).

[He pauses then, and his demeanor shifts entirely, shifting from cold to amiably warm like he's flipped a switch.]

As for the second point, and no less salient: it is my understanding that I am not the only one of my kind here, and that we are not, perhaps, the only ones particularly gifted. For those of you who may not identify as mutants, I would love the opportunity to speak with you about the nature of your powers.

[He pauses to consider that request for a moment, and follows up with an addendum:]

If any of you are comfortable doing so.

[She looks wary. She hasn't really done anything to hide them here, yet being asked about them semi-directly still puts her slightly on guard.]

[ CREDENCE FIGURED OUT THE VIDEO, YAY. so here he is, looking kind of small and awkward despite being large and awkward. ]

I'd like to go to school. I--if that's all right, I mean.

[ yes, he's still worried despite everything. he looks so earnest that it's almost heartbreaking. maybe it is. ]

What about physics?

[The abilities thing... well, she's not touching that with a ten foot pole. Not yet.]

You weren't kidding when you said you were a teacher.

... Can I ask about the 'mutant' thing, though? I've never heard of it, outside of movies.

[The name's the same, but from the "last few weeks of getting settled", she's assuming this is another version of the Charles Xavier she spoke to, so she'll start from square one.]

I'm a biotic. I have nodes of a mineral called element zero in my body that allow me to create and manipulate mass effect fields. I'm told it's like telekinesis.

[ When she responds, Anderson looks visibly surprised, even a little uncertain to an astute observer. ]

... I didn't realize there were other mutants here.

[ Just having powers is very different from identifying as a mutant. To her, it comes with a whole host of cultural implications. ]

[ Jean waits until the video feed is cut before heading into the office, actually trying not to smile but there's the ghost of one forming. ]

Does this mean any new students here will have The Once and Future King as required reading?

[ Just like it was back on Earth. ]

[Have Natasha looking amused. What exactly she's amused at is up for discussion.] I've never done any formal teaching, but I can help out with math if you still need it.

[She pauses for a second as her expression shifts to something more thoughtful.]

I've only come into my abilities pretty recently so there's only so much I can tell, but I can try to answer any questions you have.

[ Raven just gives him a look. ]

Am I going to get a job to do?

I can't offer myself for full time, but I can tutor some kids in history. Or at least, in examples of verified past events of different worlds. I've been trying to brush up on multiple histories while I've been here. Diverging pasts makes it a little complicated.

You gonna be teachin' them politics too or will you leave that to the internet?

Actually, the history department is pretty covered too for the moment. Unless you're looking for a replacement.

Mutants? You mean like Kurt? Cause I'm a person and I'm kinda different, but I'm not like... "can teleport in a poof of smoke" kinda different. [He grins.] I have a magic gun and fly around in a metal lion though?

[ After a year in this world, powered people is old hat for Tony by now, even if it's still a new and growing awareness for him back home - he's working on that. But there's something about this that's intriguing, maybe because he's never seen anyone try to organize along these lines before. ]

You call yourselves "mutants"? That's a borderline pejorative, where I come.

[ peter reads over the brochure link two or three times, skimming things and re-reading others repeatedly. he's... 'iffy', at best, about the whole idea of talking to someone else about... everything, but he's only had his powers for a little while, and maybe he could be better? maybe there's things he doesn't know yet about them - maybe he could do more good when he gets back home. after all, he's maybe-hopefully-kind-of part of the avengers now.

it's also a little while before he texts - because texting is much easier than videoing, oh my god, like, so much easier - and in true fashion it takes him a little while to get around to the topic at hand. ]

how many other gifted people are here? [ bc calling them 'mutants' seems a little. weird. even if that's what they're calling themselves, apparently? ] i mean I'm just curious
