Finally got him to stick around long enough for a nap. [He's speaking in an undertone, and fondly, too.] He'll probably wander off after he wakes up, but...

Maybe we can get him to help with the hunting around here.

[A pause.] At least, I've been calling him... him.

If you can train it I think it would be a good idea. Some people have animals that have been very useful in salvaging and scavenging.

I'm not sure how trainable cats are in general... but I'm going to give it a shot.

We can use all the help we can get.

In my experience cats can be nearly impossible to train. [He's thinking of one cat in particular here.] But they have natural inclinations and if they're anything like the ones on Earth, it would probably be best to convince it to hunt just because it wants to.
