[ Everybody settling in alright? Or at least, as well as can be expected?
Everybody enjoy their cherry tasting legumes?
Adrien had intended to send this out as a text, but he was still getting used to the new TABs and upon realizing his mistake, couldn't be arsed to change it. The doctor usually looks harried, it might have something to do with his perpetual scowl, but he's looking particularly yanked through a knothole backwards at the moment.
All the way down to the fact that he's obviously showered and made an attempt to trim his beard, only to wind up cutting himself. Please ignore the tell tale little dots of paper stuck to his face at the moment. The blade was dull, okay?! ]
It dawned on me, as these things do when one is slicing their face open with a razor, a question that probably should have been asked a week or so ago.
Those of you in the crew, who are capable of, or posses magical abilities and of a temperament to help, would you have a spell or a ... [ here he gestures with his hands, he's not trying to be offensive, magic is just not something his world has ever been exposed too and he's only aware that it can be vary from person to person. ] ... that would purify water?
Thinking if that ability exists, we might give it a try on those purple streams and see if we can remove some of the nasty side-effects and restock our supplies.

He's not particularly bothered by the idea, but he's not inclined to dive too deeply into his past at the drop of a hat, either, and there's still something a little guarded when he looks back at Adrien.]
It's not nothing, no. Whether it's worth it or not depends on what kind of stability you've got.
[Loving but strict people? It's like he can recognize the pieces but not how they fit together.]
I knew what to expect from the nuns, so I guess that was stability, but we were still on our own from when I was twelve. Can't say I regret that.

That would depend upon your definition of parental attachment. While Adrien had never wanted for anything and had enjoyed stability, his parents had been distant. He was a means to an end, each of their children were, with unique expectations placed upon them from birth. So long as they had lived up to those expectations, it was all fine and dandy but discipline had been merciless if they'd tried to expression individuality.
Kinda of a double edged sword. ]
When you were twelve, when it became you and Sam against the world?

[For him, anyway. Sam had been on his own a while longer, being the adult himself, making money for the two of them and visiting when he could. It had helped for the night they finally left together, for good, but it had still sucked.]

For a moment, awkward silence hung, before Adrien looked away and simply said. ]
Sometimes our siblings are not just family, but also our best friends.
no subject
[Not many, and it takes a special kind of friend. But there it is. Funny how he can look at Sully and see his best friend, not a father, but undeniably he is one.]
Geez, listen to me. I sound like a greeting card.
no subject
In some cases, I suppose.
[ He said and if his tone was a shade off, he covered it with a quick follow up in response to Nate's latter comment. ]
Not the sort of greeting cards I'm used too but I have been shown what you mean in my travels. Enough to say, you could possibly make a living out of it, Drake.

Oh, no way. I'm not cheesy enough for that. And that can't be a lucrative career—those things sell for what, fifty cents a pop?
[As if he's rolling in cash himself.]

[And he hasn't even told Adrien about the cards that play music.]

Greeting cards, in my world, are literally cards you present at someone's door when you come to visit them. Even if you are expected or were invited, you present a card when you arrive.

[He's sure there are little rituals in his world that Adrien would find just as silly. ...and he might be right.]
no subject
[ Adrien had always loathed the ritual of it, an attitude that hadn't been a problem when he'd been in the discipline of the military. Civilian life had been a different story. ]
My personal favorites were the rules around wine glasses, vs brandy snifters vs port or sherry, vs whiskey.

Liquor rituals like Adrien's describing still seem kinda tiresome.]
Oh, sounds fascinating, for sure.
[Haha no it doesn't.]

This is dumb.
And he reached for his device to cut the connection. Seriously, what are words? ]
