[So, with much effort, the MID starts broadcasting a close up of...well, it's a very green eye.]

Is...Is this thing on? Does the light mean it's on? Please let the light mean that it's on...

[The figure pulls back to reveal...a face! Just a normal face, covered in...soot? Burns? One of his bangs might be on fire.]

Okay, so...first off, I guess I should introduce myself. My name's Darin Altway, Master Blacksmith. I'm new here and I guess my new job is mechanical engineer on the Ingress?

[Darin is pointedly keeping the camera close to his face. He looks nervous.]

So uh...full disclosure? I don't know what an Ingress is. Or half of what these things are.

Most of what these things are.

...Almost all of these things.

And I lost my blacksmith hammer, so I've kind of been making due with the tools on hand and hahaha...so, funny story, you can't just hit things with hammers to make them work? Crazy, right? So...if anyone who knows anything about...uh...any of these gadgets and gizmos could come on down to engineering and give me a crash course in...um... everything, I would really appreciate--

[He's cut off by what sounds like something backfiring and creating a much larger fire.]

GAH!! OW!! HOT!! HOT HOT HO--

Where you at, man? If I know the folks down in engineering, they're gonna be a little annoyed about fires.

[mainly just so he can get darin away from anything and make sure he doesn't hurt himself more.]

And it's just a small fire. I can totally put it out. I just need to find some water.

[... because she hasn't quite worked out the video feature yet. Whatever, it's not like it would be weird to find out you were actually talking to a space elf the whole time, right?]

Perhaps you should have asked for training before you started touching things. Are you going to be all right?

[The console behind him starts crackling and popping. Like it's about to explode.]

...Okay, so.

If it were to explode. What would that mean...exactly?

This is purely hypothetical.

I did.

I asked for lots of training. They handed me a manual thicker than my head and told me 'Go for it!'

So, I hit the console with the manual until I could find some real tools.

... bad things?

Like the whole ship burning? Dude, come on, it's a space ship!

The only ships I'm familiar with are the ones on the damn ocean! Cut me some slack already!!

Look, nothing's gonna explode! It's just a small, contained fi--

[FWOOOM]

...It is a medium, moderately contained blaze.

Nothing to worry about.

Don't just stand there!

With what? There's nothing here! I tried blowing on it really hard but that only works on birthday cakes!

[Darin growls in annoyance.]

Look, do you know where I can get some water??

[Because water on an electrical fire is a great plan.]

Use the red foam shooter!

[The fire extinguisher, Sideswipe. That's what its name is.]

They have those, right?

The what?! I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT IS!! I'M NOT FROM SPACE, DAMMIT!!

Don't yell at me, man! I'm trying to help!

Fine, look.

How about this.

I'll point this MID thing around the room. When you see the red foam shooter, yell 'stop' and I'll try and find it. See? Teamwork.

[Darin proceeds to turn the camera towards the room and slowly pan it around...man, that console is pretty much a towering inferno now.]

[Well. This is certainly an interesting first day for Genji. He'd been roaming the Moira, but the second he sees this pop up on the MID, he's instantly heading down to engineering. He's supposed to be security for those who work with the Ingress, so he imagines putting a stop to... whatever is happening over in engineering is listed in that.

Also, this is concerning in general, so he'd probably be heading down even if it wasn't in his job description.

Genji doesn't bother stopping to introduce himself after bursting into engineering, using the time instead to assess the situation - which can be summed up as 'pretty bad', Genji decides on, considering that fire - and immediately looking around the room for a fire extinguisher.]

Move away from the fire!

[Darin is currently scrambling around trying to find something to douse the fire with. He's from a time where electronics aren't...well, invented yet, and is looking for some kind of sink or faucet.]

Dammit, why the hell does everything have to be so complicated?! If there was a fire in the forge, you just put it out with water!

[He jumps a full foot in the air when Genji bursts in...and he's staring because the armor Genji is wearing is pretty much the coolest thing he's ever seen. But, hey good news, Genji! Darin's holding the fire extinguisher above his head. He has no idea what it is, but he was attempting to shake it towards the fire in hopes of putting it out.]

W-Whoa!! Uh...sure...! [He back pedals quickly, still staring wide-eyed at Genji.]

[Lord. The poor kid was basically getting burned alive or something. Well, not on Ana's watch. She kicked her old bones into gear and rushed her way down to engineering, rifle ready. Not to shoot enemies, but to pop Darin one in case he needed healing.

She just pushed her way in, wary of any spreading fire.]

Are you okay? Call out if you are hurt.

[Darin's kind of dancing around a somewhat contained blaze, only because he has absolutely no idea how to put it out. He's only kind of panicking, and despite the burns peppering his face and torso, he looks largely alright.]

Oh please tell me that weapon of yours shoots water! Or foam! Apparently foam puts out fires?? I just thought it gave you beer mustaches!

[Okay, maybe he's panicking slightly.]

[ So, under ordinary circumstances, Tony would be living around engineering or the Ingress and likely would've been one of the first on the scene for this nonsense. It's not his fault the mini colony has boasted several things of actual interest to him, thus luring him away from his usual haunts.

But it does mean he sees this network post only at a delay, and whisks his way directly to engineering to gauge how bad the damage is. Some heroic soul(s) have doubtless helped stymie the disaster by now, but the damage is done, and the culprit is blue-haired and obvious.

Tony stomps his way directly to Darin, wherever the poor bastard may happen to be. ]

Are you the jackass I need to murder in cold blood?

[ WELCOME TO THE MOIRA!!!! ]

[Oh, don't worry, Tony. He hasn't left engineering. Once the fire was out, he's started doing his best to clean. But he's getting sidetracked. By what, you may ask?]

[Despite being covered in burns, he's got whatever was salvageable laid out on the floor. Sure, some of it is badly burned, but he's poring over the parts. He's sketching one out individually in his own store bought notebook, and comparing it to the enormous manual he managed to find, adding in his own notes to his sketches in his book.]

[When Tony comes huffing up, Darin just raises a hand, extends his index finger...]

One...second...

[And he finishes his sketch.]

Okay. Done. What were you saying about murder?

That's... that is not how you use a manual! That's just breaking things on purpose!

[There was a slight lack of a response from her. Mostly due to disappointment. But she pumped a dart from her rifle into Darin, injecting some nanobiologics and giving him some healing before she sheathed it and pulled off her coat.]

I am going to beat the fire out. Join me!

[Well, for starters, Darin was not expecting her to shoot him. In response, he yelps and jumps back.]

What the hell?! Why the hell did you shooooHOOOOO MAN! Wow!!

[Those nanobiologics are kicking in now, and he stares at his hands. He watches in amazement as his burns start to heal even faster than they normally would.]

Whoa...! WHOA! I feel great!! Oh man, is this normal?!

[When Ana leaps forward to beat out the fire, Darin follows suit with a grin. Pulling off his vest, he rushes forward and begins snapping at the fire with renewed fervor!]

Alright! We've got this now!
