[So, with much effort, the MID starts broadcasting a close up of...well, it's a very green eye.]

Is...Is this thing on? Does the light mean it's on? Please let the light mean that it's on...

[The figure pulls back to reveal...a face! Just a normal face, covered in...soot? Burns? One of his bangs might be on fire.]

Okay, so...first off, I guess I should introduce myself. My name's Darin Altway, Master Blacksmith. I'm new here and I guess my new job is mechanical engineer on the Ingress?

[Darin is pointedly keeping the camera close to his face. He looks nervous.]

So uh...full disclosure? I don't know what an Ingress is. Or half of what these things are.

Most of what these things are.

...Almost all of these things.

And I lost my blacksmith hammer, so I've kind of been making due with the tools on hand and hahaha...so, funny story, you can't just hit things with hammers to make them work? Crazy, right? So...if anyone who knows anything about...uh...any of these gadgets and gizmos could come on down to engineering and give me a crash course in...um... everything, I would really appreciate--

[He's cut off by what sounds like something backfiring and creating a much larger fire.]

GAH!! OW!! HOT!! HOT HOT HO--

[Darin's kind of dancing around a somewhat contained blaze, only because he has absolutely no idea how to put it out. He's only kind of panicking, and despite the burns peppering his face and torso, he looks largely alright.]

Oh please tell me that weapon of yours shoots water! Or foam! Apparently foam puts out fires?? I just thought it gave you beer mustaches!

[Okay, maybe he's panicking slightly.]

[There was a slight lack of a response from her. Mostly due to disappointment. But she pumped a dart from her rifle into Darin, injecting some nanobiologics and giving him some healing before she sheathed it and pulled off her coat.]

I am going to beat the fire out. Join me!

[Well, for starters, Darin was not expecting her to shoot him. In response, he yelps and jumps back.]

What the hell?! Why the hell did you shooooHOOOOO MAN! Wow!!

[Those nanobiologics are kicking in now, and he stares at his hands. He watches in amazement as his burns start to heal even faster than they normally would.]

Whoa...! WHOA! I feel great!! Oh man, is this normal?!

[When Ana leaps forward to beat out the fire, Darin follows suit with a grin. Pulling off his vest, he rushes forward and begins snapping at the fire with renewed fervor!]

Alright! We've got this now!

[Teamwork was the way to approach this. While their clothes separately couldn't do too much, flailing at it together made the fire and heat a bit more manageable. Suffocating the flame could be just as good as throwing water on it.]

Worry about that later. Once the fire is contained, I can answer questions.

Fair enough, but I feel like we're just fanning it now!

[He pauses to take a breath and wipe the sweat from his brow.]

We need to douse this thing now before it spreads or grows in intensity...! If only I had some dirt or sand...

[He starts whapping at the fire again, racking his brain.]

Dammit...I'm like a fish out of water here...

[Keeps at it and turns to look at him. Now it made sense as to why he was having trouble. He probably didn't even know what an extinguisher was.]

Look for a red cylinder attached to a wall somewhere. Or anything that looks similar. It should stand out. Grab it and bring it to me.

A-Ah..! Right! I did see something like that!

[On the other side of the room, beyond the blaze.]

[He looks to Ana, then back to the blaze, then shrugs, throwing one arm in front of his face to shield his mouth and nose from the heat in the crook of his elbow. He rushes and leaps over the flames to the opposite side where the fire extinguisher is and pulls it off the wall.]

[Then yelps because the metal canister is hot. He passes it back and forth between his hands as he rushes back over, like a hot potato.]

Y-YAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHOT HOT HOT HOT!!! I-IS THIS IT!! OW OW OW OW!!

[She gives him a look, wrapping the container in her robe that she was using the flap the flames and yanking it from him. Quickly, she pulls out the pin and goes at the fire with it, dousing it in the white cloud and choking off the flame.]

Take a deep breath. Yelling will not help you.

[Ana put down the extinguisher, pleased with the results. However, Darin still needed a little work. And she was more than happy to thump him on on the forehead.]

When someone offers you required criticism, what do you say?

[Darin jolts. Not because it hurt, but because he was startled.]

U-Uh! Th-Thank them for the help and promise to better next time, ma'am!!

Good. People say ignorance is not an excuse but there are circumstances that allow it, like this one. And remember one more thing. A mistake never becomes a problem if you learn from it.

[Darin can't help the grin that creeps across his face. He runs his hand through his hair bashfully.]

You're right. Trust me, I'm going to be burning the midnight oil studying up on the damage I caused so I can fix it.
