Hello everyone. One of your resident medical staff here with a valuable question. I was going to make a PSA but that can wait for later in the month. For now, short version blah blah blah don't spread disease some people don't have immunities blah blah blah we have sex ed materials if you need that kind of thing look for them so on and so forth alternate universes, they happen, and sometimes people look like you or have your name and mama. Good times. Large inorganics have a cargo bay space set aside for them.

The recent dimming of power is creating a health issue for some of my patients. And being that we're a bunch of resourceful smart cookies, some of us anyway, I want to put together a repair team. Specifically I planned to ask Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Tali, Ratchet the fuzzy not Ratchet the metal, and Peridot. But I know there are some of you I'm not acquainted with that could add a little something to this party.

That said, I know absolutely fuck all about magic but if someone has ways that might be able to pitch in too? I'm figuratively all ears.

Please tell me when you say health issues you mean the temperature. I'll help anyway, but I don't know how long I can live in engineering. It's the only warm place left on the ship.

Yeah, it's the temp. I asked them to warm up the Mess Hall for you hot-blooded types too.

I figure if we can all get the temperature back to normal it'll be one small favor. Then we can build from there.

I'm glad you're here - I probably would have just complained a lot and never left engineering.

Unless you've got something specific in mind, I could have a look in the life support system and try to find some way to make generate heat on less power.

Actually, it might take some work, but the engines generate a lot of wasted heat. If we could make them run more efficiently the wasted energy could be better spent heating the ship. It wouldn't have been possible back when it was just me in engineering, but there's a lot more of us now...

That's what I was hoping to hear.

That there's a possibility of fixes, not just being cooped up in the engine room. Okay, so. What do you think you might need?

Not sure yet... I've got a couple of ideas, but whatever we do should use the least amount of parts possible, and I don't know if our new command team would appreciate us stopping the ship for any reason.

I'll have to run things past the engineering team. I might drag everyone into a room and get them brainstorming - you could always come along if you want? It looks like there's two Tony Starks down there now, I could use all the help I can get.

You know what's always worked out pretty well for me? Repurposing weapons. Think we got some weapons grade materials we can root through around here?

We've definitely GOT them, I just know if anybody would let us take them. Especially not after the past month or two. Nihlus and I built a fabricator down in the cargo bay, that should save a lot of scavenging...

Nihlus has a good head on him and some delicately rendered face paint on that. I can appreciate.

What can the fabricator churn out?

I thought they were tattoos... I've never asked, to be honest, though

It's restricted by size in some ways, but generally if you make the blueprints it can churn out almost anything, or at least a pretty good approximation. It depends on the materials, since we're mostly working with something called omni-gel. Most commercial fabricators back home are restricted from fabricating weaponry, keycards, that sort of thing, but we didn't include those failsafes, so in a pinch, we could design and make those as well. Engine parts definitely shouldn't be beyond it.

Looks like we have a couple of people willing to help power up batteries. So that's an additional option. Maybe we can get some of the parts necessary out of that.

That sounds great. A generator of some kind could power life support fully while we're getting the engines upgraded. Or if we're not allowed to upgrade them, it's a backup plan.

By the way, I wanted to mention a couple of things to you, while we're picking each other's brains. Do you mind if I come over to medical?

[She's known Yewll long enough to have guessed by now.

When she shows up at the medbay, she tracks Yewll straight away. She's not hard to miss.] I don't know if I want to mention my scar now, you might make me take my shirt off.

[Her shirt, sweater, uniform jacket and scarf. Look, it's really cold.]

Well, I gotta admit of all my skills I lack X-ray vision.

But hop up on the table. We're stable in here. No power drain for us because we gotta keep the crew ticking.

[And anything to do with that scar doesn't sound good.]

[She obediently hops up onto the nearest table and starts pulling off layers. When she's down to a tank top, she pulls the strap to the side to show Yewll the scar properly.]

I'm pretty sure it's been moving. I've never seen it move when I've been looking, but the... [She makes the universal face of someone looking for the right word.]...arms? Tendrils? They're in slightly different places.

[She pulls up her old scans to compare, holding the new one and the one she takes against each other.]

...Scars shouldn't wiggle around.

[As if that's not obvious.]

I'm going to take a sample. Have you noticed any other changes?

[She makes a way face at that comment. You see her problem, Doc.]

Yeah, it's not happening now, but for a couple of weeks I kept... [She's not actually sure what was happening, so it's not easy to describe.] I would lose focus, like I just wasn't paying attention to what I was doing, then by the time I snapped out of it, I'd be outside the Ploiatos room.

I never went in. [She adds that on hurriedly.] But I'd be standing right there outside and I had no idea how I got there.

No idea. [She repeats, just to confirm, as she directs her scanner to wave over Tali's head.]

I'm gonna have to pass this on to the other doctors in case more cases come in. Would it be okay to pull you in for some further tests?

[She shakes her head - no idea - but only minutely, trying to keep still for the scanner.]

Yeah, no problem. Just let me know whenever you need me.

[She hesitates before her next words.] I was wondering if you could help me with something else as well. I need some help getting to sleep.
