video | on arrival
-- Ah, here we go.
[ The video feed flickers into view, any of you unfamiliar with aliens might be in for a shocking sight, because there's one looking right at you, and his voice sounds strange, too, like there's a much lower voice speaking at the same time, like there's some strange melding of the two. Garrus leans back slightly, nods towards the camera of the device mounted on his wrist, a brief, simple greeting, and turians don't exactly smile, but there's still something of it in his expression, his head slightly tipped to the side. The view's maybe bobbing slightly, as if he's on the move -- and he is, fresh from the medbay and heading up towards what he thinks is his assigned quarters, but hell if he knows. This ship seems massive. ]
The Moira, right? [ A low whistle. ] Fancy. Still learning my way around, but this place sure does know how to spoil a turian. Can't say I've seen any tech like this before, but I'm suitably impressed, even with all the flickering lights.
Not happy. But impressed. [ A pause, a dry kind of laugh. ] Just might want to send a maintenance crew around though.
The name's Garrus Vakarian, and if you've never heard of me, you're maybe-almost-definitely missing out. [ His tone is jovial enough to be clear that he's mostly joking rather than being unbearably cocky, but, well. Mostly. ] Maybe you've heard of other things though. Palaven? The Citadel? Sound familiar at all -- how about a show of hands?
-- And if anyone can direct me to the mess, I'm positively dying to find out if there's any food here that won't kill me.
[ HE SURE HOPES THERE IS ]

[What do aliens eat, he wonders. Do they like pizza?]
Yeah, no kidding. I held a private memorial. I'm sure people will come up with somethingβthere are too many alcoholics on this ship for them not to.
video;
I think the whole summoning me here against my will thing is already rude enough that a full gourmet spread wouldn't make up for it.
A bar would've been a good start, though. [ A heavy sigh, good-humored, and because this isn't quite making sense to him; ] What happened to the bar, exactly?
video;
You also missed a devastating attack on the ship by a bunch of pissed-off aliens. I'm not sure what exactly happened to the bar, but when the dust settled, everything in the mess hall was gone. It was a tragic loss.
video;
The ship was attacked? [ Hm. ] What by? -- I know you said aliens, but, specifics would be nice.
[ There are a lot of different kinds of aliens. ]
I'm sure the bar was a significant loss, but I doubt whoever attacked just came by to ruin everyone's drink and nothing else.
video;
[What's this, a moment of seriousness? Yikes.]
video;
I assume whatever they did to damage the ship was payback for -- what the crew did.
[ There's just enough emphasis on that for it to be clear that Garrus would like to know what exactly the crew of the Moira did and exactly what kind of company he's signed onto, but he won't press if Nate doesn't want to elaborate. ]
video;
[Every bit of damage probably counted, even done to those who hadn't been around for the original offense. Like Nate.]
video;
[ Seriously what the fuck. ]
Sounds like life on the Moira is -- eventful.
