video | on arrival
-- Ah, here we go.
[ The video feed flickers into view, any of you unfamiliar with aliens might be in for a shocking sight, because there's one looking right at you, and his voice sounds strange, too, like there's a much lower voice speaking at the same time, like there's some strange melding of the two. Garrus leans back slightly, nods towards the camera of the device mounted on his wrist, a brief, simple greeting, and turians don't exactly smile, but there's still something of it in his expression, his head slightly tipped to the side. The view's maybe bobbing slightly, as if he's on the move -- and he is, fresh from the medbay and heading up towards what he thinks is his assigned quarters, but hell if he knows. This ship seems massive. ]
The Moira, right? [ A low whistle. ] Fancy. Still learning my way around, but this place sure does know how to spoil a turian. Can't say I've seen any tech like this before, but I'm suitably impressed, even with all the flickering lights.
Not happy. But impressed. [ A pause, a dry kind of laugh. ] Just might want to send a maintenance crew around though.
The name's Garrus Vakarian, and if you've never heard of me, you're maybe-almost-definitely missing out. [ His tone is jovial enough to be clear that he's mostly joking rather than being unbearably cocky, but, well. Mostly. ] Maybe you've heard of other things though. Palaven? The Citadel? Sound familiar at all -- how about a show of hands?
-- And if anyone can direct me to the mess, I'm positively dying to find out if there's any food here that won't kill me.
[ HE SURE HOPES THERE IS ]

[And then a switch to text, where it's easier to lie convincingly:]
It's good to see you, Garrus. I've got a map/positioning system app on the MID to get you to the mess, where Tali and Nihlus assure me there's dextro food, even if it's not particularly good.
video;
And Nihlus. Nihlus? ]
Good to know I'm in good company, here.
Are you a friend of Shepard's? [ Someone from the Alliance, presumably. ]

Spirits knows these Palavanian boys weren't usually his type, but he's getting kind of charmed. The guy's sure grown since the last time Nihlus had seen him skulking around after getting his mandibles lectured off by Pallin. ]
The food won't kill you, but your taste buds might die a little inside.
[ Hello, Vakarian, think you're up to talking with a dead man? ]
video;
At first it's just the sight of another turian that immediately catches his attention, a familiar turian voice, a sense of relief -- he's already had his fair share of humans oggling at him, and really, that does get tiresome. He hears what he's saying, maybe smirks a little, starts to maybe open his mouth to say something, and.
Then who he's looking at actually hits him. ]
-- Nihlus?
[ He's grown and gotten his face half blown off, but you're looking much more alive than he thought you were. ]

Might as well bring the whole crew. [ Maybe everyone actually is here. He won't be surprised, at this point. ] Good to see you too, Alenko.

You're a... Turan, right?
[She's pretty sure that's what Nihlus said he was. There was only ever just Nihlus, though, so the name of his species never came up that often.]
I don't know what Nihlus eats, but he's one too and he hasn't died yet.
video;
Turian. I'm turian. [ A pause, and a bit of a dry laugh. ] Funny you would say that.
[ Because Nihlus has, in fact, died. Far as Garrus knows, anyway. ]

Anywhere can be a mess if you try hard and don't clean up after yourself, but the food's all right here. You kind of missed the opportunity to eat in proper facilities, though. Or to visit the bar.
[One of these is a bigger tragedy.]
video;
More or less. [ Doesn't sound like the dextro food's any good. :/ A sigh, but a tip of his head, his mandibles flaring in something that Nate might be able to read as a turian equivalent of a smirk. ] Pity about the bar, though.

I'm on Nomo deck. [ In other words, yes. In person talking's probably a good idea. ]

video;
Don't worry, it won't kill you. Unless blandness is fatal.
[Not that she has to deal with it - as soon as she realised the medics on board could do something to let her be gastronomically ambidextrous, as it were, you'd better believe she went for it. But she'll maybe leave that to a later time to explain to him.]
video;
-- Tali. [ A brief pause, and Garrus relaxes noticeably, mandibles lifting in the closest approximation turians have to a smile. ] Good to see another familiar face, of sorts.
[ Just a light comment about it, but he won't ask or linger too much. Surely Tali would elaborate on her own if she wanted to. ]

[ so, so much worse. but it still makes him a little uneasy. but honestly the reason why he's popping in? interest. Turian, huh? well Bee hasn't seen anything like it. ]
I haven't heard of those places, but the universe is pretty vast. At the very least, they should have something you can eat. No promises for me though.
[ ha ha. energon. :| ]
video;
As mildly irritated as Garrus might be to the reactions he's gotten from humans on board the ship so far, he's still a little wide-eyed at the sight of. A robot? Certainly something mechanical. It takes Garrus a few moments to recover from his surprise, clearing his throat not at all subtly. ]
-- Yes. Well. Just my lucky day.
Why wouldn't there be any food for you on the ship? [ Why do you even eat food, he doesn't say. ]

Considering Palaven and the Citadel mean nothing to me, I'm guessing Coruscant and the Republic mean nothing to you?
[there might have been a slight hope that he would be from the same galaxy, but she's never seen a race like his. Not that really meant anything. The galaxy was huge, after all.]
video;
Never heard of them, so I guess we have that much in common.
Different universes. [ Shaking his head slightly, his mandibles lifting in something of a smile, sympathetic. ] What a thing.
