Okay...so just...count me in on the small group of people who don't seem to be sleeping well, but if shit would settle down for a hot second, maybe I can try.
That being said, when were all done being shot at and the other less than fun crap that's been happening, I'd like some advice.
Insomnia is a bitch, so is medication. It's not my friend so I need alternatives. I'd like to avoid any future insomnia crashes.
What advice do you guys have?

Re: video; private
At most, the second one causes nosebleeds and migraines.

Holy shit! You're a mutant and you've been holding out on me. No fair, girl. [He tries to reign in his smile, failing miserably.] I mean, the side effects suck but come on. Superpowers are totally meant to be shown off around friends.
Re: video; private
[ She's not sure she's ever heard that word in terms of what she can do. So color her intrigued. ]

Re: video; private
[ Charlie looks thoughtful, chewing her lower lip for a second as she mulls this brand new information over for a second. ]
There aren't any people with powers back home, except me. So...no. That's not what I'm called. I don't really think I'm called anything.
[ Well, she is? But 'escaped science project' and all manner of rude things isn't exactly something she wants to say. ]

No one else? At all? I mean it took me seventeen years to meet anyone else but- [He stops, expression concerned.] Were you born with them? I mean, if you want to tell me. If you were, you can't be the only one. I don't think nature would do that.
Re: video; private
[ Charlie trusts Peter, but everything she's about to say definitely comes with difficulty. She doesn't like sharing her past, considering some of her worst moments are because of her abilities. But Peter should know, at the very least.]
My parents were part of a drug trial when they were single college students. It's how they met. They were told it was for a painkiller, but they were being lied to.
Whatever it was, it messed with their DNA a bit. Gave them abilities their bodies weren't quite designed to handle.
And then they had me and whatever genetic changes happened to them were a part of me. I can handle what I do because...I don't know. Maybe genetically speaking that stuff made me that way. Perfected whatever was going on with my parents.
They're gone. So...yeah. It's just me.

[He swears, rubbing at his face. He knows a little about experimentation, from what Wanda showed him. From what River showed him. It seems like something he just keeps hearing about from person after person, how some asshole decided to ruin their lives with science and false promise.]
Fuck. I don't know what to say about that. I'm sorry. [It sounds lame and lacking.] Where are you?
Re: video; private
[ She kind of looks lost at the 'sorry', so very unsure as to how to handle that. She can't say it's alright because it really isn't. She can't shrug it off entirely, either, but that's all she has so that's what she does, accompanying it with a shake of her head and a twist of a smile that still manages to look weighted down. ]
I'm in my room about to head to work at the library.
Re: video; private
[He shrugs. Maybe it stings a little that she'd lied, but he's not going to call her on it now. There's more important things to talk about and he doesn't really want to make her feel worse even when he feels hurt. Maybe this is that maturity thing everyone's always harping on him about.]
I'm going to walk you there. Okay? We can, uh, you know. Talk or whatever.
Re: video; private
[ She's hoping. ]
Sure. Okay. I can explain more, then. I don't care for these things, anyway.
Re: video; private->action
Do you want me to keep calling you Leigh in public then?
[It's the first thing out of his mouth when he sees her.]
action:
Charlie's fine. It's nice to hear my name.
[ It's nice to be able to tell people her name, too. It's been a while since she'd been able to. ]
action:
[He smiles, taking a few steps down the hall at a pace he thinks will match her's.]
So I guess the first thing I should say is sorry? Like, that stuff blows. Experimentation, your parents. You know, sorry about that.
