It'd have to be a flagship, how would it ever fly in atmosphere... [He looks over it, momentarily distracted by the logistics of such a thing.] It's very nice, though. A collector's item...?

No — well. [She shrugs, half-smiling] I guess it is, here. They actually used to sell this model at the Citadel souvenir gift shops. It's probably the most prolific model out there.

Still, they didn't skimp on the quality, it's well-made, and well-balanced. The running lights even illuminate if you hit the button on the bottom.

Oh- really? [He hits the button, and lo, it does indeed light up.] I used to have something like this when I was a kid. Not for flagships, though. I don't think they made miniatures of those. [He frowns a moment, idly wondering.]

[...Well, anyway.] Do you want it back? I'm guessing it's really yours.

[squadgoals]

[A smile quirks on her lips when he mentions having had something similar. A fellow fan, huh?]

Only if you don't want to keep it.

[Luke smiles.] I appreciate the offer, but I think you'll appreciate this more than I could. I've never seen any design like this before.

[squadgoals]

I, on the other hand, have seen more of the full-scale Destiny Ascension than I ever expected to in several lifetimes. All yours.

If you're curious about the details, though, I could probably give you a mini-rundown of it.

[Luke laughs.] It is a kind of Star Destroyer, then?

[squadgoals]

Star destroyer? [Well I mean, not what it's made for but] That's not its primary function, but I guess it could take one out.

Not a great idea, but yeah. Probably doable.

[t65]

[Luke cringes.] No, no, it's a class of ship. I don't think they could actually destroy stars...

Star Destroyers are Imperial freighters. Mobile space stations for combat missions, they're about as big as the Moira. All military, though.

[squadgoals]

[Now she's cringing. It would be like someone asking her if a Quarian Liveship was actually alive.] I follow.

Yes, and no. It can deploy, but its primarily made to be a juggernaut in a battle. Its main artillery can one-shot any known ship in any species' fleet, to give you a rough idea.

[beat;]

It's built to be the uh, final word, if you will, on issues of diplomacy.

[t65]

That's... [Luke gapes.] That's terrible. Not even Star Destroyers have that power. I'd hate to think of what someone with one of these under their command could do.

[He looks at the little blinky toy in his hand.]

Luckily, there's only one — and it's under the charge of our galaxy's resident peace and diplomacy experts, the Asari. Seeing as they, as a species, have never been the aggressors unless first attacked, they're well-suited to have the wheel.

[beat;]

I'm not sure they've used the main artillery in the last couple hundred years, actually.

I sure hope you trust them.

[Luke's pretty sure having that kind of superweapon should be illegal, but you do you, lady.]

That's good to hear, I guess. It just sounds a little frightening. Who could stop them if they did?

[squadgoals]

Me, probably.

[She says it without thinking, almost sardonically. It's not until a full beat that she realizes how strange that must sound without context.]

I'm sorry, that probably sounded pretty egotistical. I just wouldn't be surprised if I was asked.

[She continues, without pause.]

Of all the races? I'd probably put my trust in the Asari first and foremost to remain peaceful, even over humans. But if push came to shove, I'm pretty confident the combined might of either humanity's, or the Turian's fleets would be able to handle the Destiny Ascension, no problem.

For most of the time I've known it, though, it's just been a fancy cruise ship for shuttling around the Citadel Council.

[Luke's stuck on one thing, though.]

You? Are you some kind of general?

[squadgoals]

["You", he says. She shakes her head right away, a touch ruefully.]

Not at all. I'm just a Lieutenant Commander in the Systems Alliance Military, and commanding officer of the SSV Normandy.

[There's a pause, and the sound of some things being shuffled around, before she lifts up a model of the SSV Normandy SR-2 itself to the MID display.]

This guy.

[He looks skeptical, but then he's distracted by the ship.] Is that a transport? What class? Or... it sounds like we don't have the same classes. How does it handle?

[squadgoals]

We'd call her a frigate class — a light escort and scouting vessel. Mostly used for reconnaissance. Great speed and maneuverability, superb shields and artillery for a ship her size — and the Normandy's got a stealth drive to boot.

[There's a touch of pride in her voice as she outlines her ship, and all the work that's been done on it.]

[Well, Luke's not about to insult someone else's ship-- at least, not if they're not Han. He cocks his head to the side with a smile.] Sounds like a real piece of work-- in a good way, I mean. The sort of ship I'd like to use if I ever needed a transport. I mostly fly starfighters. Uh, one-manned crafts for formation fighting.

[squadgoals]

You'd definitely want her if you needed to move — moreso if you needed to move quietly. Only way you could see her on your screen is if you looked out the window and she was close. Best ship for it.

Starfighters, huh? It's close — we just call single-pilot crafts "Fighters". I'm not a pilot myself, but it's a joy to watch them in attack formation. [There's a pause as she thinks for a moment.] Actually had a model of one of the Alliance fighters, too. Wish I could've shown you that one!
