The environment on the ship has been extremely hostile, more than what's typical for us, and that has to stop. The punishment system was put into play to discourage these kinds of actions, but there have been more after its installation.

This means that things are going to change, beginning with the treatment of other crew members.

As your captains, we don't wish to force anyone to do anything, and we'd prefer that everyone learn to live and work together to achieve our common goal, but that idle behavior we've adopted is now over. All of us are extremely displeased.

We're going to start with reworking the punishment system. This will mean the creation of new positions (arresting officers, mediation officers, etc.), and the implementation of new rules.

Please state your suggestions, thoughts, and offer yourself as candidates for the new roles.

About time. Security on this ship has been inexcusably lax. If you're planning on bringing in a practical justice system instead of the joke you've been using so far I'd be happy to help enforce it.

What do you believe is a practical justice system?

If this was a properly disciplined crew? Zero tolerance. If people are going to make themselves an obstruction to the running of the ship then there's no point in keeping them around.

... But I suppose... with a crew like this one it might be... fairer to give people one or two... chances... to get used to what kind of behaviour's acceptable before terminating them.

Termination is an extreme that is the exact opposite of what we want to achieve.

Discipline would be wanted, but the crew come from so many places that there isn't one set system that each would respond to one hundred percent.

We have to make stricter rules since the first aren't working, but the problem is creating a system that all the crew will abide by.

They'll sure as hell abide by the rules if the alternative is getting destroyed. And anyone who doesn't wouldn't exactly be a big loss.

That's one way to look at it. We'll need everyone to cooperate, and we're not sure that's something that will happen.

You're never going to be able to get everyone to cooperate. That's why you need to do something about the people who won't. Maybe you don't execute them, I know nobody stays dead on board this ship so that wouldn't work anyway, but you need to prevent disruption somehow. The way this has been handled up to now is laughable.

Though the plans are nowhere near complete, we believe focusing on prevention is going to be what works best for the crew. That incorporates a lot of different aspects, but it seems more likely that the crew will respond positively to that over threat of punishment and death.

Well, it's better than nothing. If you need people to enforce your new rules I'm on board.
