[He sounds pleased to be speaking to her... but he holds off on asking her how she's been, because it doesn't yet tie in to what she's said, and her recent activities are a tangent he plans to address in a bit.]

Do you think it's possible that the captains are also unfamiliar with these places we're visiting, or at least unfamiliar with current conditions there?

I am glad to hear of that my friend! I hope you've been eating well!

I would strongly wager the captains don't do enough or do no research on various places we approach. Finding out what the local social climate is would be a great benefit for us as a whole. We are strangers approaching a planet that couldor be having difficulties that our presence could only make that much worse.

It is akin to how they seem to know very little about us when we are pulled to the ship. Ingress is unpredictable yes, but asking new arrivals of their home would provide more help to possibly avoid in fighting, though that is another topic entirely.

We could always continue to run brief cultural surveys, although I think they'd have to be rather pointed to be helpful, and whether or not there was any benefit to them would come down to whether or not the captains could utilize them. In other words, it's probably only worthwhile if some kind of structural authority were to base their operating procedures on the information. Even then, it would have to evolve constantly.

Given the fact we have very little idea just how long we all will be here upon this ship, it certainly wouldn't hurt to provide some information the crew and captains can benefit from. We're all together after all. I would not mind discussing monster kind if humans were to ask. I have been doing it for quite awhile now.

You should still make me cookies. Actually, what I have for you is along those lines: cream of tartar. An essential ingredient for macarons, like we were discussing a while ago, but also for all sorts of meringues. There's enough of it to go around.

Would you be interested in going on the record about monsters -- specifically, monster society, what might be considered an affront to monsters, and so on? I may or may not create such a record, but it might be useful to know.
