Right. I don't think we should be killing anyone...but more than a week in the hold? I feel like that's the least we can do.

You know, before you were here, way back when there wasn't even a voting system? I got five days in the hold just for breaking into a room. Not saying that wasn't fair...I definitely deserved it. [Not that he regretted it.] But you can see how things aren't really adding up.

I guess it was when the more violent crimes started happening. Before that punishment was handed out by the captains on a case by case basis.

And it seems like those are the only crimes judged by peers.

I can't say I like anything about the situation, but. Given the choice, I'd rather have the option to have a say in what happens to a crew mate than not at all. Maybe that was why the captains chose to implement it.

It's the better option, yeah. [And having a say was a far cry from how things had been on the Neheda, where realistically the smallest infraction would have been answered with execution. He didn't want anything like that.]

Maybe it's not the system, just...the outcomes. Consequences need to be chosen based on solving a problem not just, inconveniencing the perpetrator for a few days.
