....we gotta get it out......[The feed is knocked on accidentally to show a writhing, sweating Venom Snake clutching at the sheets of his bed obviously having some sort of nightmare. His breathing is ragged and his words are spilling uncontrollably from his lips, as he battles in his dream.]
.....no time....no time for anaesthetic....we-we have to open her now......
[More crying out in pain. What was he dreaming about? He is in pain, it's all over his face, as he winced during a bad scene in the dream.]
...Boss!...b-breathing's stable.....no active....no active bleeding.....she's clean I'm closing her up......
[Snake grabbed his sheet and let out another ragged cry of pain. Ripping the sheet clean off the bed, beads of sweat on his brow.]
.....hold her steady....got to be a- continuous suture....
...n-no! Huey...no! you bastard.....
[Snake ripped the bed sheets in two, as he eyes snapped open and a silent scream left his lips. He awoke to the sound of DD barking loudly, obviously upset at seeing his master having a nightmare. He jumped onto the bed and began licking at Snake's face. What the hell? He swallowed hard, his chest rising and falling rapidly. His dream felt real. Too real. He wasn't aboard the helicopter now and Paz was no longer there. Big Boss was there neither. Kaz, Chico.....everyone gone. He was aboard the Moira. A nightmare. Another flashback. He wiped his forehead and felt sweat there. How long would these dreams effect him? He petted DD and tried to reassure him. Damn.]

[Snake had a habit of switching it on or knocking on when he did want. Right now he felt like crap and needed a drink or a walk. Or both. Probably both. He gave DD a scratch behind the ears and then got up stretching.]
Might head to the bar or the gardens.
no subject
...? And you're telling me as an invitation? [a laugh] I'd consider it if you didn't sound like you were still sleep talking. Go take your dog on that walk. Nightmares are the worst, no matter if you're a soldier or a medic.
[not that he would know. All his maintenance was handled by a computer... Though that seems to be something of a hot topic right now]
no subject
[He was seriously considering turning it off because he was sick of turning it on when he didn't want to. But then what about others trying to contact him? Snake sighed.]
Yeah. You can walk with me if you want. Can't sleep anyway. [He ran a hand through his hair and got up. DD sitting at his master's feet awaiting commands.]
Funny thing is I'm both of those. Or was.
no subject
... Hm? [He does sound a little surprised because he hadn't expected that response]
That's different. Most people would balk at the thought of a stranger popping for up a late night walk.
Field medic? Wouldn't have pinned you as the type but I guess that's the beauty of the military. One can never really tell.
no subject
[As in he used to be a medic before being altered into Big Boss's image. Now, he was the toughened war veteran who couldn't really save someone's life, more like end it.]
You want to walk to the garden with me and DD?
no subject
[...]
Wouldn't you prefer to hang out with someone you're familiar with? You've got something of posse already, don't you?
no subject
...a posse? [What the hell? He's now going to be staring blankly at that.]
no subject
Group, team, unit, do you really want me to pull up a thesaurus for this?
no subject
You have a "posse" from where you're from?
no subject
I guess you could call them co-workers, though that's being kind of generous.
Don't want to disturb your friends? How considerate.
[he's fallen back into his usual
kinda hammyenergetic self it seems. Maybe the tiredness earlier was just a phase]no subject
There's always the morning to talk to them. [It would be more considerate.]
Always wondered about you. Did I even ask your name when we met because I can't remember it. Sorry. [He's still half asleep right now.]
no subject
Never offered it. You were kind of preoccupied with complicated things and I didn't bother. You can check back on this when you're a little more awake.
Well, I always wondered what a hardened soldier might be like when half-awake and on a walk with a dog. Who am I to turn down an invitation?
[the words are taunting and it's hard to discern sincerity in it. But he's having a hard time recovering from Del Pascia and using Model W again after months without. A pair of broken toys. Fantastic]
no subject
You want to walk with DD and me?
[Because he could really use that walk right now, buddy. Feeling like shit is no joke. Snake stretched, got up and went for the door, trying not to wake his room mates. Steve and Niko might not be too pleased with him if he did.]
Where do you want to meet?
no subject
[another quiet laugh. He sounds strangely casual]
You choose which deck. I'll meet you there. It'd be such a waste if you got lost on the way, after all.
[he's not in his own room, at the very least, though there are no sound indicating movement on Prometheus' side]
video>>action;
[The kid had a point. Del Pascia had turned into a hell hole at the last minute when the AI had started commanding hoards of prisoners and turning them all into zombies.]
The gardens alright for you?
[Because DD always loved the gardens.]
Meet you there, ok? [Snake kept his feed on, as he made his way towards the gardens, DD at his side whilst his walked at a brisk pace.]
no subject
Prometheus either covered the mouthpiece or otherwise messed with the volume on his end. Strange, considering how flippant he was about things normally.
He's not there when Ahab first walks into the Gardens... Not initially, at least. The Reploid shows up silently a few seconds after the old man and his dog]
... I think I could live without the cats. [he gestures vaguely towards a couple of cats minding their own business] Wouldn't birds be more fitting? Not that there's many 'natural' spaces where I'm from either.
old man and his dog XD
[Some cats anyway. Such as the one he knew very well; Ocelot. Snake greeted the robot guy with a nod and DD wasn't sure what to make of the strange metal man. He sniffed at the guy's feet before looking up at him and cocking his head to the side.]
DD friend. He's a good guy.
[Snake smiled when DD licked at the robot guy's hand and barked at him.]
Huh. Think he likes you.
8')b
And, of course, those two were crafted as guardian dogs]
He shouldn't. [he shifts to pet DD on top of the head once] It's dangerous to trust a machine after all.
[Prometheus wants to laugh. A 'good guy'? Friend? This man must still be asleep]
... Complicated, right? [wha-] I ran into your double. I wish I could say I can tell what's going on, but considering there's three other guys aboard this ship with the same face I honestly don't know what's happening anymore.
no subject
[Ahab smiled slowly. You're not metal gear that's for sure and he's grateful for that. Snake may still be groggy from sleep but he still thinks of you as an OK sort of guy. A friend? Yeah, maybe.]
Big Boss? What did he say?
no subject
not mentioned; that he could quite easily change that]Oh, so you guys are related. [he makes a gesture over his face. Doesn't say anything about the code names because when you and your sister were named after mythological Titans well...] Facially, at least. Guy didn't say much. Scavenging seemed like a better use of time than small talk.
... [he looks at Venom slowly, attentively. After running a few cursory scans and - bar the scars and shrapnel - has to admit--] It's a pretty convincing double you have going.
[a (self-deprecating
hateful) chuckle]At least the two of you look alike.
no subject
Sounds like him. [None of the Snakes were that much of a talker, especially Venom and Big Boss. Why talk when more action could be completed?]
Wasn't my choice. I woke up like this after a nine year coma. [Yeah. That was a pretty shit thing to wake up to. Losing half your left arm and waking up to having shrapnel stuck in your body.]
no subject
Nine years, huh? That's quite the beauty sleep you got there. Not that it seemed to have done you much good.
[considering the stuff bunched in with the shrapnel that he's noticed...]
Might as well walk properly, hm? You lead; I think the dog will appreciate following it's master around more than some random stranger.
no subject
Yeah. I'm alive that's what counts. The men rely on me back at base and I intend to stay alive to one day get back to them. [As in leave the Moira. He doesn't plan on staying here for the rest of his life.]
Fine. [Snake nodded and motioned to DD, who was wagging his tail and looking up at his master expectantly. A walk through the gardens it would be.]
no subject
What a reliable leader. Your men are lucky to have you. [there's something a little off about the way he says it, though it's hard to pinpoint what's strange. Like an insincere statement said by an envious individual]
...
[then he laughs quietly]
I can't believe you'd agree to walk with a complete stranger in the middle of the night. Is that confidence? Or just the decision of a sleep addled old man?
no subject
Don't let the scars fool you, kid. I'm not addled and I'm not that old. [Compared to most aboard he is but shhh.]
You're not that much of a stranger. We met in the rec room when I was punching the crap out of that bag. Remember?
