Okay, so. I have some matters I'd like to bring up. If you've not met me, I'm Doc Yewll. I'm not always going to be nice to you but I will try to fix what's wrong with you. There are other doctors that have more patience than me, refer to them if you have to.
On to business.
The Med Bay still needs some repair. I'd say with a little help everything could be up and running within a few days but it does mean people with technical parts and anyone in need of surgery are going to hold off for treatment. Useful salvage to that end would be a miracle.
Also that station's infirmary has a neat trick of offering up complete medical histories. If you would be willing, please send me what you can of yours privately. I'm not going to sneak around and try to get it, but if I have a complete medical run down it means I can better help you in the future if related problems come up. Just don't grab anyone else's if that's the case. Just yours. I want absolute information consent here.

I've noticed some issues with your physiology that I would like to discuss with you in private. Either message me or come by Med Bay.

["Father" she's suspecting was the other person whose genes matched. Liquid, Solid, and then Ishmael with his good set.]
I'm trying to behave myself and not just run around ripping out a hunk of people's hair, even if it would save a life. I'd need it willingly.
In a position where he wouldn't want to tell us we could use a sample?

Suppose I should be glad I died before it could happen, at least.
[If he hadn't, he could have been all... old. Or something. And then they couldn't fix it so well.]
From what I know, he's not a big fan of my existence. And we don't exactly get along. [Although technically more of the animosity is on Liquid's part, but still.] It's possible he might just care so little he'll allow it, but I'm not so optimistic.

[In theory, anyway. Indogene cloning was the way they perpetuated their race, though theirs were often still individual. Sometimes, though, they could churn one out after another if they knew one was going to die.]
[One after another after another.]
Well, that's an optimistic view right there. [Her tone indicated, however, she wasn't going to encourage him to be gung ho about it. More like she was disappointed that it might be some sort of trial.] Tell me if you can get through to him, and if you can't I'll give it a shot.

Optimism doesn't always work, I'm afraid. I'll see what I can do.
[Even if he has to like, fight his dad for it or something.]
Hell, maybe I've got it all wrong and I'll end up being fine. [He's not going to hold his breath on that one.] How long do I have? Can you tell?

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, though. The sooner I can get the sample, the more likely it is that I can find a solution and give you a normal lifespan.
[It's a dismal prognosis, but it's better than spending the next few years feeling your body deteriorate into a mess.]

[He doesn't want his second chance at life ruined by a completely different sort of... disease. This needs to be fixed, and soon.]
I'll contact my father. Whether he agrees or not, it's a start.
[He's lucky Big Boss happens to be on the ship; even if he does have to fight him and knock some teeth out, it's better than having no chance at all.]
Hmph. Weren't satisfied with me simply being the flaw, were they?
no subject
...Other than what they wrote in, that time limit, I didn't see any flaws.
[She doesn't know exactly what he means by that. The unwanted genes vs. the desirable ones.]
Or do you mean something else?
no subject
[Liquid is not a scientist. Or a science enthusiast. Or a person who passed science. He is, however, someone who has been fed some pretty impressive bullshit his whole life.]
Clearly, they didn't think too highly of me.

Your genes aren't flawed. You're free of genetic diseases, have good metabolism, eyesight, musculature. You're in infinitely better shape than some of the people on board.
But you're right. It doesn't look like they thought very much of any of you.
[And for that she empathizes. Decades away, long established in her own practice, and she's still angry that she's artificial. Constructed to be a slave. Sentient and disposable. She knows that's why she's empathizing with their case so much. Allowing herself a rare emotional investment.]

[He did not actually study this in any way shape or form.]
We were weapons, so it wasn't like we had much else going for us. But it was always my brother this and my brother that. I was tossed aside for him to gain everything.
[Or at least that's what he was told his whole life. And that's why Liquid's so naturally angry.]

[There are a lot of issues, there. She can tell. She's not fantastic at helping with emotions; to put it frankly, she's normally the person that lands people in a bar brooding over a drink. But she needs to know because she has to speak with Liquid's brother, too.]
I know even the luckiest Indogene wasn't too fond of being a slave.

[Too much attacking and fighting and dying. Even here on the ship it hasn't come up as a big point of discussion.]
Can't imagine anyone being happy about that. Is... that what you were meant to do, then?
no subject
[She crosses her arms in front of her, standing a little more stiffly despite herself.]
That's what all of us were meant to do. At least in the beginning. The Indogenes were a slave race. We made things very difficult on our creators.
Which, thankfully here, I don't have to deal with. But I am going to try and drag you out of your station. I'm a philanthropist but I'm also a spiteful one. [Liquid and Solid and the alternate Shepard.]
no subject
[He's not sure if Snake would want the discussion, really. Which wouldn't exactly stop him, but a conversation's hard if the other party doesn't want it.]
As you should have. I know I always wanted to destroy those who created me. [And his father, but back then he was certain they were in cahoots.] And your situation sounds worse. I do hope you ended up getting some sort of revenge.
Heh, a spiteful philanthropist seems to be exactly what we need around here. I appreciate the help.
