Okay, so. I have some matters I'd like to bring up. If you've not met me, I'm Doc Yewll. I'm not always going to be nice to you but I will try to fix what's wrong with you. There are other doctors that have more patience than me, refer to them if you have to.

On to business.

The Med Bay still needs some repair. I'd say with a little help everything could be up and running within a few days but it does mean people with technical parts and anyone in need of surgery are going to hold off for treatment. Useful salvage to that end would be a miracle.

Also that station's infirmary has a neat trick of offering up complete medical histories. If you would be willing, please send me what you can of yours privately. I'm not going to sneak around and try to get it, but if I have a complete medical run down it means I can better help you in the future if related problems come up. Just don't grab anyone else's if that's the case. Just yours. I want absolute information consent here.

Flaw?

...Other than what they wrote in, that time limit, I didn't see any flaws.

[She doesn't know exactly what he means by that. The unwanted genes vs. the desirable ones.]

Ah. Well, see, when they created my brother and I, they gave him all the dominant genes, and I got the flawed ones. I was meant to be the throwaway clone so my brother would be the superior one.

[Liquid is not a scientist. Or a science enthusiast. Or a person who passed science. He is, however, someone who has been fed some pretty impressive bullshit his whole life.]

Clearly, they didn't think too highly of me.

So they had genes that they wanted to get.

Your genes aren't flawed. You're free of genetic diseases, have good metabolism, eyesight, musculature. You're in infinitely better shape than some of the people on board.

But you're right. It doesn't look like they thought very much of any of you.

[And for that she empathizes. Decades away, long established in her own practice, and she's still angry that she's artificial. Constructed to be a slave. Sentient and disposable. She knows that's why she's empathizing with their case so much. Allowing herself a rare emotional investment.]

Perhaps not flawed in the sense of a... normal person, but in our sense... I was just the leftovers.

We were weapons, so it wasn't like we had much else going for us. But it was always my brother this and my brother that. I was tossed aside for him to gain everything.

How has your brother taken to this?

[There are a lot of issues, there. She can tell. She's not fantastic at helping with emotions; to put it frankly, she's normally the person that lands people in a bar brooding over a drink. But she needs to know because she has to speak with Liquid's brother, too.]

I know even the luckiest Indogene wasn't too fond of being a slave.

We, ah, hadn't exactly had a big chance to discuss it beyond me explaining it to him, years ago.
