Hello. This is Gregor Vorbarra, Senior Arbitration Officer on the ship, and I wanted to reach out to the inhabitants of the Moira new and old, to let you know that murder is not, has never been, and will never be an officially sanctioned method of arbitrating disputes either between crewmembers or officers. If you have any difficulties, please feel free to refer them to me and I will assist you as best I am able.

Usually arbitration involves contacting the two parties involved individually, then sitting them down together with a mediator to talk to each other. [Like a couple of god damn adults who don't use firearms to solve their problems, Gregor charitably does not add.] If the people involved can't come to an accord after that, measures to keep them separated to their mutual satisfaction are implemented. We haven't had to do a lot of it on this ship, yet, but that's the ideal. We don't necessarily get to pick our crewmembers, but we have a limited amount of space on this ship, and we all have to share it.

It sounds like you've got a lot of experience in this sort of thing. [Luke says, because anyone whose eyes didn't glaze over after the first sentence must. (You lost him at 'can't come to an accord'.)]

This thing is as big as a Star Destroyer, and not nearly as crowded. It seems like there's plenty of room to me.

It's a little like my job back home, I suppose.

And, the ship is large, but it's still an enclosed space, with plenty of ways two people who can't stand each other to make each other's lives miserable. We just try to cut back on that as much as possible.

[Fondly, with a little roll of his eyes,] Poor you.

The fact that you're thinking ahead is why you're qualified for the job, I guess.

[That makes him smile a little, the corners of his eyes crinkling just faintly.] Oh, I get by.

And, we're doing the best we can. Or some of us are, anyway.

Tell me if you ever need any help! I mean, I don't have any experience, exactly, but my b-... my sister is a diplomat, she knows all about that.

...I guess you should really talk to her if you need help.

I will, thank you. [Gregor tilts his head.] I don't suppose you'd mind giving me your sister's name? Or yours, for that matter, if it's not an imposition? We haven't quite been properly introduced.

Oh! Sorry, I never talked to people much on comms, but I guess everybody does it here... [Shrug, whatever.] I'm Luke Skywalker, it's good to meet you!

My sister is Leia Organa-- former Imperial Senator Princess Leia Organa, I guess; that's why she's so experienced with the things you were talking about.

It's very nice to meet you too, Luke. And I'd love to make your sister's acquaintance as well. [His mouth slides into a tilted little smile.]

I don't usually advertise it, but I'm a politician back home as well. It's, ah... not exactly a wildly popular job in general, but I'd be fascinated to discuss your sister's background, and vice versa, if she'd be willing.

Really? I bet two would have a lot to talk about! I mean, I don't know that much about it; the Imperial Senate mostly focuses on core worlds, and Tatooine is about as far from those as you can get.

Is that where you're from? [Gregor sounds genuinely interested.] I've never heard of it, but most people on this ship have never heard of where I'm from, either. What's it like?

[Why would anyone sound genuinely interested in Tatooine? Luke must have lead him astray somewhere.] You've probably never heard of it, even if I've heard of your home system. It's just a backwater desert planet; we're a little too close to our suns. People don't really stop by except to resupply on their way to or from the core. [He shrugs. There is nothing interesting about Tatooine.]

Ah. It sounds like Beta, actually. [Gregor sounds almost wistful.] Beta Colony is a pretty popular tourist spot an a technological hub, but the planet is scorching. People mostly live underground. The infrastructure is fascinating.

[He realizes abruptly that Luke didn't exactly ask, and his mouth tilts in a crooked smile.]

I enjoy hearing about new places. Even backwater desert ones.

Oh, no. Nobody comes to Tatooine on purpose. Smugglers and bounty hunters stop by to refuel and pay respects to the local crimelord. [He sounds more than a little aggrivated by the entire concept, in a dull, bored way. It's been like this his entire life, but that doesn't mean he likes it.]

What about your home system? It's got to be more interesting than that.
