If nothing else, you can at least be sure the Captains will deliver a hearty slap on the wrist if Aurelia does murder anyone.

It does bring up an interesting point, however. For all the ranks they issue us, along with the titles, there's not much they offer in the way of enforcement. I mean, it's not like we can fire someone who doesn't do their job adequately.

It's not like capital punishment is anything but a temporary inconvenience, here. I'm exceedingly frustrated, but I'm also sympathetic to their dilemma.

People have been moved around to different positions. Our Personnel Officer has a truly incredible talent for either making one's life extremely easy or extremely difficult, depending on who you are and the mood he's in. [Gregor smiles a little, lest Pepper get the wrong impression.] He's my foster-brother, so for me, it's usually both.

No, but imprisonment could be less temporary if they enforced it better. And before you go into it, I'm also aware of the limited resources and how every set of hands is needed to do something. It still feels like a cop-out.

I understand your frustration completely. I've been discussing alternatives with the acting Probation Officer, Ultra Magnus, but we'd welcome any input to take to the captains if we can come up with a cohesive alternative system.

[Gregor actually smiles a little back, his hazel eyes warming.]

Indeed. I believe that's partly why Miles has declined to move her position elsewhere. At least this way I can sort of keep tabs on her official duties.
