I got something in the mail from home that got me thinking about a few things:

- Has anyone ever made it back to their own time/place?

- Has anyone ever escaped and been recaptured by the Moira? If they have, did time move at all while they were away from home?

If you don't know, I'm also curious about the general morale. Do you like/dislike the ship? Why?

The Nehada. It might still be out there. I hope not. It seemed like bad shit was beginning to go down. But if they come for us, I want to be shot before they take me again.

In Civil War, so I have noticed countries behave like that. After a good war slimeballs know how to move in and make their money. And there are always new men for them that are good with guns. I am from the country that was once Yugoslavia.

So then it is going to breakup. There's a lot of tension stirring there, a lot of ethnic disputes and battles. My men and I took a few jobs out that way, but we're ultimately staying out of it.

A lot of people stayed out of it. Turned out pretty shitty for us. The fucking Russians made out like bandits after the war.

Does not help no one realized how far back those problems went. But at least it helps set me up to deal with stupid space politics.

Hindsight's 20/20. And Russia's never been good about protecting anything except whoever's in office.

I don't think the fucking Bratvas care about who is in charge, so long as they get their way. Russia is a capitalist country now.

No country will stay one way forever. They'll all change to suit the needs of a higher power. What year is it where you're from?

If that higher power is just a few guys that think they are a higher power because they are born with a lot of advantages? Then you would be right. I was born in a peasant town. No government works out good for people like us.

But then again, so do private bosses. You kind of get used to being fucked over a little bit at some point.

I have family and friends living in the shitty world, so I had something to look out for. It was good enough to motivate.

[As long as he has friends to be loyal to, well... it's a small something. It's helpful when those friends are slightly idealistic.]

At least I have that consistent. You picked out what you are fighting for here? Or is it just to go home? I learned from my other ship, you are going to have to pick something here, too. Or you are going to become so full of resentment you will not be able to make this trip with a good head on you.
