Ok, I'm asking. What is everyone's job? I'm looking for that one guy who has a worse job than mine. Just one.

And I'm hoping Taco Tuesdays aren't a thing here. That's just a disaster waiting to happen.

[Dutch gives a facial shrug.] Probably one of the least essential jobs on the Moira. I'm a welding tech. As far as I've seen, the ship doesn't need a lot of repairs.

[She slouches slightly and wrinkles her eyebrows curiously.] What have they got you doing that's so terrible?

That's good, though. Maybe this thing will actually hold together until it can get us back home.

Waste disposal. Very essential, but not so great.

Tell me about it. Not what I was expecting, but then I'm not really sure what I was expecting.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting being the new welding tech, either. It's certainly not what I do for a living back home. [She gives a facial shrug and her shoulders follow suit.]

What would you have been expecting, though? What's your trade?

Mostly under the table kinda stuff.

What do you do where you're from?

Sometimes similar things. [She smiles a little. Might as well be honest.] I'm a hacker. Well, also an artist, but my paintings don't sell, so I gave up on that.

I know an artist. She showed up here with me.

Think your work was as crappy as hers is?

Well, I never underestimate how crappy my art can be. [She grins broadly.] I have gotten some pretty harsh criticism.

Maybe you're just not appreciated in your time. I've heard that can happen. Just don't go cutting any ears off.

Ah, yes, the ear story! How does that go? I cut it off and give it to a prostitute? [A playful smile crosses her face.] No, I don't think that'll do at all. Prostitutes these days don't really value body parts as gifts. They wouldn't appreciate that in the slightest.

I can honestly say that every prostitute I've met would not accept an ear.

[She gives a facial shrug. I can't blame them. Most respectable business establishments on Earth won't accept ears as currency and as keepsakes ears are kind of creepy.
