sooo what kind of powers do you guys have? were you born with them or get them in some freak incident or what?

[He pauses as he types out the text, considering if he should be honest about his intentions or not. It's not like he had any sinister plans or anything. It's just a matter of being private. But he doesn't want to sound too weird or shady. This sounds shady doesn't it??

He types and deletes a bunch of times, unhappy with most of the reasons he tries to give for asking the question. This one makes him sound too weak, this one makes him sound too ignorant, this one just makes him sound stupid. Eventually he settles for...well, nothing. He just gives up and hits send.]

i was just thinking hearing about other people's powers would help me understand my own

[ Not that "Andrew" actually says anything about him, but the words kind of make sense. She's not going to be so quick to trust, not when she's still fifty-fifty on Division being part of this somehow. ]

Complicated's not that hard really. It's everything else that doesn't make sense half the time

[ And it takes her a bit to figure out the private function of this thing. It's almost like a phone, sort of. Anyway. Kids learn fast, right? Besides, anything else she says beyond this point shouldn't be public information. ]

[That's what he had been looking for. More people like him. It was the only way he could understand more seeing as how he was no longer home, no longer had access to the crystal. Not that he had before, but he was at least closer to it.]

[ Nick's dad, her mom. They're not as good as those trained to handle their powers are, but they're learning. They're getting better, and Cassie's kind of glad for it considering where they are now. ]

There are more people than you can probably think of who are like us.

yeah, i mean, my cousin and best friend have it. but they knew as much as i did.

[And to be honest, he still felt alone most of the time anyway.]

we weren't born with it, though. i think that's why it's harder for me to just accept the fact that i have it, you know?

no, it wasn't like that. i mean they probably would have if they knew about it because people suck like that, but uh

we found this big glowing crystal rock thing underground. it's hard to explain but that's what did it

i guess i never thought of that. we tried to go back but it was sunken in and we were told to leave.

They've taken a lot of us, killed them too. maybe it's not the same but it could be. [ Which is a hard truth for anyone to accept, but Cassie says it like the sky is blue. ] I don't know a lot about being a mover, but my friend might help you

seems kind of inevitable i guess. people are afraid of what they dont understand. and when they're not afraid they just want to use you

["Stick together". Maybe it's spending most of his life in isolation from the people around him, being the odd man out, treated like he was lower than dirt...maybe that's what makes him question the sincerity of that, despite having this common ground that he never thought he'd have with anyone else.

Look what happened with Matt. His own flesh and blood.

He wanted help, though. Mostly, he wanted to understand. He would just be careful not to let his guard down.]
