[Niko has had a little bit of a confusing week. He didn't expect to be asked along on a diplomatic mission; usually not anything he's good at (in his mind). But he came along, figuring he was there as bodyguard more than anything else.]

[But now he's returned, and he wants to check in.]

Hey, ah.... So I just got back. I had to go with Thán for a mission and now he has a new boyfriend for peace purposes I guess. I am not really sure what happened there. Sort of like an arranged marriage? [He's actually kind of suspicious of this whole-matchmaking thing now. He's always disliked match-making on some level, but there is something deeply unsettling about it here. Just how mandatory and committing it seems.]

[He doesn't hate the match he was given, not at all. But he knows there might be people they're even better suited to.]

Look, I am a little nervous about this big business here. Capitalism is shit, government is shit, and is bad enough when taking advantage of lonely people. But I think we are going to have to be sure to be good to the new guy because we saw what happened the last time we fucked up diplomacy.

[And apparently as the occasional diplomat, which is completely new to him. He doesn't know. Maybe because he gets along with people so long as they don't call him lesser or try to kill him.]

Good to meet you, Lara. I am usually not so good at telling things, but now it is important to and you have a good job. You see, you can disappear from here, from these types of ships. If it is not kept track of, people lose the important stories and make the same shitty mistakes.

How do you mean disappear? Have you been on a ship like this before?

It wasn't a very good ship. A lot worse than this one.

People just leave. It is not like they're murdered and dumped in the river. They just... go. As if the same thing that brings us suddenly sends up back.

Is it as ominous as it sounds?

Someone just vanishing, always a little ominous. But I do not think it is foul play. There is never any evidence of this.

But you don't know where these people go? They just... Vanish?

[ That's a bit much to take. ]

Do you know about alternate universes yet? This... also sometimes happens. The people who vanish come back but not as same. These are people with a different history. Same name, same face, almost alike. Except maybe they were friends with someone different from the first on, or preferred dating another sex.

Is like they try to fill the spot but it fucks up somehow.

So the people that come back are just. What? An entierly different person? You realize how mad that sounds?

No. I'm sorry. I've seen people use magic and talk about things that have never existed in my world, to my knowledge. I don't know why this should throw me.
