Video: Avagi Emergency Procedures
[ When the network lights up again, it's a vid post featuring a stripy, dark plated Turian. He's in some properly mucked up thermals and looking like he's been running on about an hour of sleep. ]
Nihlus Kryik. Life Support and Sanitation.
[ Is that a sufficient intro? Probably not. He's not really here for introductions at the moment anyways. ]
Now that the possible remnants of Ingress energy have opened up connections to other worlds again... It is probably to the benefit of most, if not all of us, to bring up the discussion of various Ingress traveling procedures. Including preparatory lock down drills, quarantine and the establishment of diplomatic relations.
This world may well be peaceful, but if these portals work anything like previous pieces of Ingress tech have, it's no guarantee that things will remain so in a month's time.
I, and a few other crew members, have gone around scouting out and marking off potential safe rooms in various sectors of Avagi. Setting them up further will have to be more of a community effort.
They will need to be fortified, stocked with supplies, and set on an independent air, water and power circuit. Security measures will need to be wired in and then we will need to review drill procedures, preferably on a monthly basis. We need a dedicated number of people who would be willing to take on the task of directing other crew members to these safe rooms, as well as instructing them on what to do in times of crisis.
Additionally, these rooms will double as containment units, should creatures like the Ploiatos appear again.
Quarantine procedures will also need to be set up. Before any attempts at Ingress exploration can happen: we need to establish whether or not the worlds we're entering through the portals are safe. If I can have the cooperation of people in medical on the matter, direction on this front would be thoroughly appreciated. At the very least, a quarantine zone in the immediate area around the shrines will need to be established. Everyone who enters and exits the tears will need to sign off with a date and time stamp as well as log anything you bring back with you to make tracking down any unpleasant passengers easier.
In a similar vein, I will be holding a seminar on First Contact situations in the Music Hall with the vague hopes of maintaining peace and diplomatic relations with any species on the other side. If at all possible, I sincerely hope you will attend. If you don't, I ask that you do your level best to not murder anyone or start unnecessary fights.
Unless they're into that.
Please.
Volunteers on all fronts would be more than welcome. Just note your desire to participate here, your area of specialty, whether or not you need training- and I will have you listed. Once everything is organized, you will be given a set of tasks to carry out as the projects go forwards. If you'd like more involvement than that, feel free to ask.
I've added two additional categories to the current voluntary signup form, which I've attached. Please use that as reference
Debate and discussion on the topic is also more than welcome. If you have suggestions, improvements, concerns or resources that you would like to share, this space is also open to such matters.

[ It's dry humor and apology at the same time. ]
But we are at a resource advantage compared to any species we might make contact with. It's best to take as many steps to avoid conflict where possible.

Kind of liking that not being a thing right now.
whoops, i meant *disadvantage there, sorry!
But, for the necessary fights, we prepare. As best as we can under the circumstances, anyways.
Re: whoops, i meant *disadvantage there, sorry!
We're gonna need to find some way of supplying weapons if it comes to it.

The more immediate problem is probably going to more related to ammunition supply, but that should be taken care of with the fabricator specced up to more industrial use.

[He has knives, a length of pipe and a gun. That is not enough.]
Hopefully that'll work out. The last thing we want is being caught unprepared.

[ And from the sounds of things, Wash probably didn't come with much of one and he certainly hadn't been around long enough to try obtaining any from Savrou.
Still, Nihlus does pause. ]
If you'd like, [ it's tentative and carefully neutral. ] I can probably help a little on that front. Once the rush of planning and sourcing everything is down to more manageable levels anyways.
[ The list of projects is very, very long right now. But. Well. He's got an unfortunate soft spot for Wash, even if the man doesn't realize it. ]

[He'd been in the middle of a fight, low on weapons and low on time. Not ideal situations.
He tilts his head at the offer, considering it. He doesn't like being in someone's debt, but Nihlus has seemed reasonable. He likes being unarmed even less.]
If you're able to, I'd appreciate it. It's not en emergency now, but eventually there's gonna be one and I'd rather be prepared.

[ He should be able to find some time for that at the very least. ]
