Video: Avagi Emergency Procedures
[ When the network lights up again, it's a vid post featuring a stripy, dark plated Turian. He's in some properly mucked up thermals and looking like he's been running on about an hour of sleep. ]
Nihlus Kryik. Life Support and Sanitation.
[ Is that a sufficient intro? Probably not. He's not really here for introductions at the moment anyways. ]
Now that the possible remnants of Ingress energy have opened up connections to other worlds again... It is probably to the benefit of most, if not all of us, to bring up the discussion of various Ingress traveling procedures. Including preparatory lock down drills, quarantine and the establishment of diplomatic relations.
This world may well be peaceful, but if these portals work anything like previous pieces of Ingress tech have, it's no guarantee that things will remain so in a month's time.
I, and a few other crew members, have gone around scouting out and marking off potential safe rooms in various sectors of Avagi. Setting them up further will have to be more of a community effort.
They will need to be fortified, stocked with supplies, and set on an independent air, water and power circuit. Security measures will need to be wired in and then we will need to review drill procedures, preferably on a monthly basis. We need a dedicated number of people who would be willing to take on the task of directing other crew members to these safe rooms, as well as instructing them on what to do in times of crisis.
Additionally, these rooms will double as containment units, should creatures like the Ploiatos appear again.
Quarantine procedures will also need to be set up. Before any attempts at Ingress exploration can happen: we need to establish whether or not the worlds we're entering through the portals are safe. If I can have the cooperation of people in medical on the matter, direction on this front would be thoroughly appreciated. At the very least, a quarantine zone in the immediate area around the shrines will need to be established. Everyone who enters and exits the tears will need to sign off with a date and time stamp as well as log anything you bring back with you to make tracking down any unpleasant passengers easier.
In a similar vein, I will be holding a seminar on First Contact situations in the Music Hall with the vague hopes of maintaining peace and diplomatic relations with any species on the other side. If at all possible, I sincerely hope you will attend. If you don't, I ask that you do your level best to not murder anyone or start unnecessary fights.
Unless they're into that.
Please.
Volunteers on all fronts would be more than welcome. Just note your desire to participate here, your area of specialty, whether or not you need training- and I will have you listed. Once everything is organized, you will be given a set of tasks to carry out as the projects go forwards. If you'd like more involvement than that, feel free to ask.
I've added two additional categories to the current voluntary signup form, which I've attached. Please use that as reference
Debate and discussion on the topic is also more than welcome. If you have suggestions, improvements, concerns or resources that you would like to share, this space is also open to such matters.

video;
[Like what killed the planet back there.]
Safe rooms are a good idea. Once we can figure out if things and people pop up randomly, or if there's any kind of pattern.

[ The to-do list is very, very long. ]
This is not, however, something we can afford to be idle on. The priority is the safety of the present crew. We need as many of these measures up and running as soon as possible. Worrying about new arrivals will have to be secondary.
More immediately, if you could rope people in on guarding the Ingresses and try to, [ Nihlus makes vague gesture. ] Deter people from entering until we've sorted everything else, that would be handy.
no subject
Have any of the new arrivals said where they turned up? Maybe there's a correlation with where all the items came in.
[He pushes a hand through his hair.] Keep people from jumping into shiny portals. Got it.
text; encrypted -- lemme know if this is okay!
Now about that organizing...]
Portal access on observation deck: secured.
Security personnel required to scan, reinforce rest of station.
Aditionally, require IDs, quantity: "Team Voltron".
[That list entry is not specific!!!]

Listed on volunteer form (Security, Quarantine, Emergency Procedures).
Attempting coordination with other functions for effective quarantine.
Already transmitted data:
currentmy location and activities.[He is being as forthright as a Rinzler knows how to be.]
2/2
"Details" now in public domain.
Wouldn't call you if I intended a threat.

And that was without even knowing who they were.
I'm paranoid. I'll admit that.

["My" people also noted. Whether it's meant as a security reference or an administrative one, the user's loyalties aren't to the larger system.]
Request distribution ('Pidge', 'Hunk', 'Allura', 'Alfor, 'Darin', 'Fareeha Amari') to scan remainder of system and secure additional Portals.
Exchange: will improve your data security after immediate crisis is past.
[If you're gonna be paranoid, encrypt everything. Like he does!]
no subject
Do you have any specific data or frequencies you want to scan for?

There's also an odd ticking rumble in the background.]
Visual detection effective.
[Though on consideration, he will add:]
Sample available for testing in event of faster methods.
[Without a proper system to tap into, his own scanning functions are too short-range to be much use. But users can be unpredictable, in their powers or their tools.]
no subject
Thank you. I'll pass this on. If they want to take a look at the samples, I'll let you know.
no subject
Request confirmation once additional Portals secured.

Additionally, do any of the people you know have inclinations towards engineering projects? We need to prioritize securing Medical at the moment in addition to the Ingresses.

[He'll send along a text of names -- Pidge, Hunk, Allura, Alfor, Darin, Fareeha Amari]
Yeah. Out of mine? Pidge, Hunk and Darin are your best bets. Alfor too, probably.

[ So many people to hunt down! ]
Wonderful. I'm going to have to borrow them for the next little while.
[ You know, a month. Maybe two. He needs to try and pair them up with some Talon people and hope that talent and conflicting interests will save any one group of gaining control of the lock downs. ]
no subject
I mean -- I don't see why they wouldn't agree to help out. But, as a head's up.
no subject
Of course. Thank you again.
no subject
Yeah, sure thing.
