[ She rolls her eyes. This Guy. ]

Ai-yi-yi, I'm on my way. [But he laughs. Just wait 'til he gets a little farther into his conversation with Charles and how much you love him then.]

A few. There's a bunch I can't read because they are in different languages.

[Expecting a text back? Don't wait up for it.

He just sort of appears.] It took me two tries to get to the right place but uh, any recommendations? Been a while since I got to check books out.

[ She senses him just before he arrives so she isn't that surprised. But it'll take some getting used to, again. Her brow creases slightly, ]

[quickfingers]

[He puts on a face similar to when she offended his bff Hostess.] Is this... shocking?

Oh, Peter. That illiterate fool!

[greyate]

[ She makes a face in turn, both offended by the insinuation but also trying not to laugh at him doing that again. ]

No. I know you're smart, Peter. Even if you don't want to act like it.

[ A fast mind will often get bored with things that challenge others. It's not a large leap to make. ]

I just never thought you had the patience for it.

I actually like reading, thank you. [He smiles though.]

It's one of those things I can do at whatever speed I want, unlike... Unlike waiting in line at the supermarket? That's something I don't have patience for. The only downside is that if I read fast? I read fast. And writers... they don't write fast. So I try not to speed-read the good books, just to draw it out a little.

[He shrugs, pulling the promised package of cupcakes out his pocket and flicking them her way.]

[ She holds up her hands in a wordless apology, she was wrong, she can admit that. But she's smiling, too. ]

Glad to hear you finally admit it. I knew you were actually a dork, too.

[ She stops the cakes mentally and has them float over to her the rest of the way. After grabbing them from the air, she opens the plastic wrap. She takes one out and sends it floating his way. ]

[The whole floating cupcake thing is still weird but something he can get behind, scooping it out of the air and heaving an exaggerated sigh as he cups it in his hands.] The last of their kind for the foreseeable future...

[ Probably why she only nibbles on hers at first. Gotta savor this. But then she's waving a hand at him, ]

No, stop. If you're going to sing, give me some Stevie Nicks or something.

[He gets another repetitive verse in before laughing, flashing a mischievous grin and taking a bite of his cupcake while moving to rest against a nearby table in the library. Be thankful he's not still chewing:] Just like the whiiiite winnnged dove?

Oooh, baby, ooh - ooooh. [It's terribly exaggerated, with a wink for flavor before he stuffs his mouth with another bite of cake, chin tipped back.]

[ Jean laughs at it all, actually feeling like she can for the first time since they arrived at the station. She leans back against the wall of her little corner and shakes her head, ]

You know what? I'm so happy to have this delicious cupcake, I'll allow the butchering of that song.

[ Another dainty bite taken. ]

[quickfingers]

And the daaaaays go byyyyyy... [He draws each word out with a growl to them after basically inhaling his cupcake, giving him an excuse to do a half-assed dance that consists mostly of shaking his shoulders and walking toward her one step at a time.

You said you'd allow the butchering.] Like a strand. In the wind. In the web that is my own, I begiiiinnn agaiiiin.

[He dissolves into an air guitar solo instead of continuing. You're welcome.] Happy double birthday, Jay Grey.

[ She keeps laughing till she's giggling and covering her face with one hand, not even able to eat any more of the cupcake, she just holds it down near her lap.

She makes like she's trying to swat at him but can't reach so she just waits until she can get the words out to say, breathlessly, ]

[Peter finally stops, one headbang or three after his solo "finishes", and plops down to sit next to her. He ends up laughing too, her giggles contagious and giving him more reason to smile. He's glad he's got some people around here who are fun to be around.]

Jay Grey and the Silver Guy, it's like a band in the making. How good are you at air piano? We go could go places, Jeanie. I'm tellin' ya.

[ It's been a long time since she felt like she could have anything close to "fun". But it was also easier to feel that way around him. She had to refrain from saying how much she missed him, not wanting to make things weird by bringing up his previous self being around.

She snorts at the idea of a band, though, ]

I'm better at the air sax. Though I don't think many aliens around here would feel the same.

[quickfingers]

Shit, impressive. I like this new direction - you and me? We're gonna make it. See our name up in lights, mark my words.

[He sighs happily.] Any other ways to pass our time here? This place is cool and all but seems like it can easily become a bit boring. No offense to all the bookworms in heaven or anything.

[ Another bite of her birthday cake. It's like it gets better with every bite ugh. But she rolls her eyes good-naturedly at the question. ]

Why don't you find a book to read? Take it slooow.

Maybe I will. There's gotta be some weird alien fiction in here.
