anyone here good with universe travel tech/magic? can be something from your world, not just the ingress

i have a device that's supposed to do universe travel but that part hasn't been working right since i got here over a year ago

Not like that. Immediately between two different parts of the universe, no matter how far apart they are.

They're stories about ships ending up somewhere they were never supposed to. And when you can travel anywhere in the universe, I'm sure you can imagine what that means. Other dimensions, or through time.

so kind of like the ingress or time compression but a whole ship ending up elsewhere instead of just a person?

That's about right, yes. And unlike from what I've seen of the Ingress, we have control over it.

We hit a wormhole right before I found myself here, and I can't help but think it caused this, somehow.

How was something like that cast in the first place?

time compression: squishing all of time and space into one point

i don't know how it works, we weren't taught how to do it

That's definitely larger AND more absurd than any spell I've heard of!

Why would someone want to do that?

the idea was that she'd put herself at the middle, have all that power from time and space squishing into her, and rewrite reality how she wanted it

i guess everything did change, it just probably wasn't how the sorceress wanted

I'm only familiar with the planet. And then, only what my friends have told me about it.

What do you mean by "1990"? [Time doesn't occur to her, since she hasn't managed to wrap her head around the timeline crisscrossing yet. Other things jump to mind -- where in the universe it's located, for example, but the number doesn't sound familiar on any coordination system she's familiar with.]

The planet Altea. It's far from Earth, far enough that only a wormhole could cross the distance in a lifetime.

However, we didn't have an opportunity to visit their home.
