Hello
Even with the contract I signed, this is a lot to process. Even after all I've seen in my life, time travel is kind of shocking to me. I keep wondering who else could be here. And how my age has been altered.
Anyway, my name is Luke. Luke Skywalker. I look like a boy right now, but I'm really an adult. I'm a little out of sorts right now, but I will help any way I can to make things better while I'm here.

I can be there shortly.

All right, I'll wait.

Her clothing is dusty and worn. A few cuts here and there upon the fabric speak of some of what has transpired since arriving at this place. Anakin, Padmé would say, has it worse, lacking in his Force abilities. It doesn't take her long to see him though, and she pauses, as if he might disappear.] Hello, Luke.

Hello...mother...
[The word is still so strange on his lips. He never called Beru anything but 'Aunt Beru'. He's never had anyone to call mother, until now. He just wishes he could do something for her. He can see she's still hurting.]
Are you all right? Is it from the crash? I wish I could help...I'm no healer, but I could do a little if I only had the Force...[He sighs].

It is healing on it's own. Bear it no mind. It is you I would rather speak of.
no subject
[He nods] There are so many questions going through my mind right now. So many things I've wished for so long that I could know. But I promise I won't press on anything you would rather avoid. And I'll try to tell you as much of what you'd like to know as I can.

[Yer her son... Their son. Oh, how she wishes Leia was here as well, so that she could see both of them together. Her daughter is branded in to her soul, and all she has to do is close her eyes and draw the image up.]
no subject
Also...What was your life like? What was your job?
no subject
[Yet there is so much more that she doesn't know.]
I- well, I was a senator for my homeworld of Naboo. It was busy, especially during the Clone Wars, but I did enjoy it and take pride in my duties.
no subject
That sounds interesting. I'm glad you met Leia...did she tell you about her children? She was Chief of State for a time. She's done a lot for the galaxy in her work.
How...I know the old Order forbade marriage...did you and father have to hide? How did you meet?
no subject
[The old Order...]
There is a new Order?
[Which seems the logical conclusion from that statement. Yet she nods.]
We did, yes. Few knew of our union. We met on Tatooine though, when my ship made an emergency landing on the planet.

She has three. The older two are twins, like her and I. Jacen and Jaina. The younger one was named for his grandfather. She named him Anakin.
[He isn't going to get into the sad part of Anakin Solo now...he doesn't want to lay that on her from the start. The time will come eventually, though, he figures.]
I have a son of my own, too. His name is Ben...he's five now.
[She asks about the order.]
Yes. I've dedicated my life to rebuilding it. It's growing now, slowly. Jacen and Jaina are full knights now.
[He's saddened by her words about their marriage.]
I wish it hadn't had to be that way. That the old Order had been different. I chose not to continue that rule myself. I see no conflict between my marriage and my life as a Jedi Master. I'm sorry it had to be that way for you.
[He nods as she speaks about Tattooine.] I know a little. That his mother married a man with a son...Owen and his wife Beru raised me. I didn't even know of Leia until I grew up and left home. I know that she was raised by the Organas, on Alderaan. Sometimes I wish we'd grown up together, but I know that her upbringing and training has enabled her to do a lot of good in the galaxy.
What's my father like? I talked to him a little bit after I found myself here. I know that he was a great pilot and a great Jedi. At least, that's what I've tried to remember about him.
[He of course doesn't want to go into the tough stuff...he has no way to know just how much she knows. He can't help wanting to know more about who Anakin really was, though. He knows there was more to him than just Vader.]
no subject
Your children- what are they like?
[Oh, there is so much that she wishes to know. So very much.
Yet she listens as he speaks, of a future that she will never know, yet she cannot help but listen regardless. But she nods about Anakin's mother, for Shmi had ended up married to Lars. And had passed... Although she does remember both Owen and Beru.]
I met them. Later though, on Tatooine.
[And how much would they tell him about his father? She knows that they had had a simpler life than the one that Anakin and her had known.] With Bail and his wife Breha. He was a Senator, and a trusted friend.
[But she pauses to consider that, drawing in a soft breath.]
He was a great pilot, and a great Jedi, yes. He earned the name Hero with no Fear during the Clone Wars. He and Obi-Wan brought hope to the galaxy. [Although her voice trails off, recalling all that had happened after.] He... He is thoughtful and kind, friendly and intelligent. Even from a young age, he was generous, willing to offer all that he had, and he didn't have a lot then. Loyal, fiercely so.
[Oh, but she is not blind to his faults though...] He wasn't fond of politicians, although I was not fond of some of my fellow Senators either.

Leia's children are all Jedi. They're all smart and stubborn and seem to have what their dad calls his "Solo luck" for tight situations. Jaina's a mechanical whiz...she'd rather be getting her hands dirty working on a ship than any of that girly stuff. Jacen has a gift for animals...both of them are great pilots. And they've got some of their dad's Corellian swagger and lopsided grin at times. Both of them have been through a lot...there's been a war going on. But they're great kids. They've got dark hair like both their parents.
Anakin was...He was a good boy...intelligent and brave and kind. We...We lost him during the war. [Luke's eyes are sad.] But he was a hero to the end. He brought hope as well...just like you said of his grandfather. I'd love for you to meet them...all of them.
[He thinks of her words about his father.] I see him in myself and Leia...but I see you as well. [He has to laugh again about the politicians.] I guess it's hereditary. Leia's great with them, although even she has her fill at times. She isn't Chief of State anymore, but she's still working with them at times. I'm definitely not cut out for politics.
[Especially when they want the Jedi to be loyal to the government instead of the Force...and especially since the one in charge at the moment is former imperial Admiral Daala, who never liked Jedi to bein with...]

[But it sounds as if both Luke and Leia both have their hands full, but not in a bad way. It seems that they have many of their grandfather's traits, for not only was he a Jedi, but he was a mechanical whiz as well.
Her expression deepens though as he speaks of the Anakin that he knows. Her hand reaches out, to brush softly against Luke's cheek.]
I would have loved that as well.
[And she means it. Family had always been important to her.]
Not everyone is cut out for them, even some of those who were Senators.

"That's very true." he agreed. "I'm not even sure about Chiefs of State sometimes. The one we got after Leia stepped down made me crazy sometimes. About the only good thing he did was that he ended up making a heroic sacrifice in the end. Now, we've got a former Imperial who's becoming too pushy about pledging the Jedi to serve the government first and foremost. I don't like it."
He sighed. "Sometimes, I don't think certain things change very much. As much as we try to create a better government, the nature of sentient beings means that things will always go wrong and there will always be fights and disagreements and dark intentions...or good intentions gone wrong... as much as peace and ynderstanding."

[For Padmé, there is nothing else. That much she knows. To return home is to return to death. How it is staved off here, she does not know. All that she does know is that she is living, breathing, alive.]
It is not always easy. It is balancing the needs and the wants of the people, and about being able to put aside your own beliefs at times so that you can listen. Not everyone is cut out for the job, unfortunately.

[And Padmé has always been that one.]

[As she offered a comforting smile.]

You know, sometimes despite how much things have changed since...since back then...sometimes they still seem very much the same. But, sometimes I can see small changes. I feel there's always hope, even when it doesn't seem too bright. It's a lot of what's got me through the last few years...the small bit of hope that we'd come through and find peace again.
