voice. at ass o'clock in the morning.
So this is like an intraship social network, right? People ask questions and crap and... I don't know. Talk. [ there's a pause as the very awkward teen yawns. ] I've got a question for all of you, then. What do you do when you can't sleep?
Back hom-- [ she cuts herself off, rewords that. ] Back on Mindoir, I'd go for a run out in the fields or the woody area not far from the farm. There's nothing like that on a ship, though.
[ shepard misses the open spaces.
there's a moment's pause and then her tone changes from the somewhat embarrassed but mostly exhausted and not caring vibe it had for everything else to something distinctly grumpier. ]
First person to suggest a warm glass of milk is liable to get a boot up their ass, though. I'm not five.

VOICE
The post plays out, a pretty standard Moira — well, a pretty standard Spacer question. Pulling up a new tab in her datapad, she starts typing up a helpful list of suggestions.
"Back on Mindoir..."
And freezes. Home on Mindoir? What was the chance of there being multiple universes with the same name? Hitting pause on the voice message, she swipes up on the user information of the poster — and her jaw drops.
Jean Shepard. The pint-size pipsqueak with an omni-tool, most recently seen trying to hotwire her tank, shared not only her last name but a home planet origin with her alternate universe twin?
It couldn't be a coincidence.]
I've got a pretty good running course mapped out through the ship. It's no forest, but it works in a pinch. Otherwise, there's the training room, the pool, and the Lounge — it's got games and movies.

well. ain't that just her luck. ]
Does, uh. [ oh god, don't say anything about the tank. ] Does the training room have punching bags?

[I'm not saying I'd punch a child, I'm saying I'd hold my hands out and teach one to punch better. Especially — and this was important — a tiny me.]
