[ Kobra has a little bit of grease on his face and his hair is greasy and sticking to the side of his head. Anyone who's been in the Ingress repairing would have seen him helping there. ]

Hey, so like... how does everyone feel about runnin'? 'Cause they already think we're guilty, anyway, and I don't care much if they think we're cowards, either. Who the fuck are they, anyway? The bravery police? Don't got nothin' to prove to these guys that's worth gettin' half our crew ghosted.

[ He doesn't think he's a coward, of course, but he didn't live this long not knowing when to cut and run, especially when there's children involved. Everyone's on board, so they're not leaving anyone defenseless if they just go. What's the point of staying and fighting? ]

Oh and they're potentially listenin' to everything we say on here, so might not wanna be makin' battle plans on anything that could be listened in on. Just sayin'.

[ He shrugs. ]

As much as I agree that we have nothing to prove to these people-- they've clearly already decided we're all guilty of destroying their planet and I can't imagine much will change their minds-- running without knowing the capabilities of their ship and their crew could put us in a potentially worse situation. If you have to hide, hide smart.

Exactly. Before we choose a course of action, we should learn about what it is we're up against. Hiding stupid and fighting stupid shouldn't be options here when our goal is to survive.

[ Charlie's in the library, not even bothering to clean up the madness that is all the books falling from the shelf when the ship went sideways. And sh has a few bruises and scratches and a lump just above her right eye.

Clearly someone had some fun. And by fun, I mean this is the worst fucking thing.
]

Running from a group this angry and this determined leaves you running for life. Sometimes, there's nothing you can do about it except to keep moving and running and hoping today won't be the day. That you have just one more between you and them.

I speak from experience.

These people, however...I don't know the story, here. Just that they were horribly wronged somehow, and that makes them irrational.

[ She wants to say more, opening her mouth to say something else, but the room spins on her end and she closes her eyes, wobbling briefly. ]

I think sometimes when we're faced with a tough choice, staying and doing what we can to make sure they don't come after us again, and an 'easy' choice, 'easy' being running...maybe we should take the tougher choice.

True, but a life on the run isn't much of a life at all.

Sometimes running is good.

But if they just keep hunting you then you're fucked. At some point you gotta stop running.

I spend most of my life fucking running. And some shit you just can't run from if you ever wanna stop running. At least for a bit.

I would normally say yes, that we should run. At the very least it would give us more time, a chance to find a better position.

[He can tell here who's had to take a "survival" approach before.]

I was there. If I knew it would keep the kids safe, I would turn myself over.

[No "buts" to that. He absolutely would do that still.]

It was a mess. It was a beautiful planet, and before we got there? It was fine. Peaceful even. They were not even very forceful with us.

I doubt it will be. People tend to go for survival over all else. Dramatic last stands only happen when there's no choice left.

The problem is that either they've been tracking the Moira and had little trouble finding it, or they've been following the ship this whole time. Running will only prolong the inevitable.

[ If there were a chance at real escape, Cortana would consider the idea of running far more seriously. They have a crew of varied abilities, a handful of children, and most of them had nothing to do with what happened to the planet... But the ships here don't seem to work the same as they do where she's from--they can't escape using random coordinates and disappearing into slipspace.

Even if they could, she doesn't know everything about the tracking technology that might be possible in this universe. They could still be found. It sounds like running really would only make this whole mess take longer. ]

We may as well deal with it now. Running may simply anger them and, when they catch up, we may not get the courtesy of a warning before they attack.

I like running. Running is awesome.

But a permanent solution that doesn't involve either us dying or them dying would be even better, so if there's a way to swing it, we should give it a chance. And then run if it doesn't work out.

I'm in complete agreement with you.

However, if we were to run -- even if we could outrun them -- we would have to assume they were consistently in pursuit.

But it's especially important that we don't use these systems to plan. It's always safest to assume that your electronic communications are being hacked, unless you have firm knowledge that it's impossible.

[He had not, for example, assumed that his secure line was hacked during the Kira investigation, partly because he was 99% certain that Kira was sitting right beside him.]
