video;
[ When the video feed clicks on the images it displays are not of a person but rather a work space. If anyone is familiar with the labs of the MedBay, this looks to be one of those, the flat surface of which is covered by bits and bobs.
Adrien's voice comes across clearly on audio, even if he's being a rude shit and not looking at the device. ]
Oh for FU ... [ the expletive is choked off by an annoyed pounding, and frustrated growl. ] ... SAKE!
[ There is a pause, a deep breath and then, in a very deliberately calm tone. ]
I'm trying to execute a small project, for Medical, involving the MIDs.
I know what the final result should be and I believe I have the necessary raw materials but getting from point A to point B is proving beyond my technical knowledge.
Is there anyone available who could spare a couple of hours to help me work on this?
[ Before he tries to punch the bulkhead and ends up with a busted fist. ]

As promised, he was down in the Medbay, in lab 2, sitting on a stool and tinkering with something on one of the medbay computer consoles. Under the stool, curled up and looking put upon was the bahari, Courser and it would be the tracker who lifted his head and acknowledged Rey's arrival first.
Adrien was too busy muttering expletives at whatever he was trying to make happen on the console. ]

Besides that, she's an intensely curious person.
The medbay isn't a place she likes to be, but here she is again, BB-9 rolling at her side. The droid beeps when it notices the catlike creature and Rey's eyes follow suit, brows raising but mouth silent. She's seen stranger aliens, and this one is sort of cute. Her gaze finally falls on the struggling man.]
Having trouble?

Head down, eyes focused on the lab computer, Adrien is momentarily oblivious to the tracker's antics. At the question, he closes his eyes and rubs his fingers over the lids, pinching the bridge of his nose. ]
My father used to punish me for asking questions I already knew the answer too.
[ Dropping his hand, he gave her a pointed look. ]

His snarky answer makes her brows raise and the corners of her lips turn downward. She's come all the way down here to help him, and he's going to greet her with such impoliteness. Well, two can play at that game. Her response is deadpan:]
I never had a father.
[Then as if nothing odd's happened, she moves closer, the droid rolling close on her heels.]
Let me see.

There was some definitely engaged sniffing happening in BB-9's direction in the moments before Rey moved and the droid rolled along.
Adrien did not react to the deadpan response. Instead, he pushed the computer console he'd been working on, outwards slightly so Rey could see the code. ]
The MIDs already contain a program that allows for detection of dangerous drops in vitals. I think this software should integrate into what's already there, but it's different code languages.

She hunches over, reading lines of code and tries to keep it all straight. She bites her lip.]
What's it supposed to do again?
no subject
Just, one little tap with a paw? He was at least getting close enough to make an attempt. This was probably going to end in tears.
Adrien wasn't paying attention, or he might have tried to call the bahari off. Or he might have just let things play out; sometimes Courser needed to learn his lessons. Instead, he pulled up his MID to access the embeded code he was trying to work with. ]
The MIDs have been upgraded so that if they read a dangerous fluctuation in vitals, they contact Medical and Navigation, to help with estimated response times.
This software I got. [ He motioned to the code. ] It allows some long range diagnostics but also it will allow Medical staff to access vitals on demand without needing additional equipment.

Rey's eyes move across the code again, and she starts to recognize some of the lines.]
Seems kind of invasive.
no subject
No more invasive than what we pull with the scanners. This just makes it so we don't have to be fumbling for that additional piece of equipment and also so we can assist from a distance, if we're separated from the patient.
[ The flash and spark drew Courser's attention. Were he an adult, he'd be able to breath fire and perhaps some of that ability was the lure towards BB-9's spanner. Either way, Adrien was finally leaning back to interfere. ]
Leave it, Courser.
[ The command was firm but gentle and accompanied with a quick hand gesture that saw the bahari immediately, if regretfully, withdrawing from the field of battle.
So to speak. ]
