Yes, I know the line well. But how exactly did they come back? When did this happen?

[She wants details, Daisy. She doesn't actually know how much Daisy even knows, but if she doesn't know a lot, Peggy has a feeling she knows who will. And she's already making a mental note to contact Steve about this later.]

They never left, they just laid low. A lot of them pretended to be SHIELD agents. We had someone on our team who was one of them.

[So this whole thing was a little personal for her. She knew it was for Peggy as well.]

[Everything they did, everything they sacrificed-- it was really all for nothing? What burns her the most is what Steve sacrificed. He gave his life, and while he didn't lose it, he had to leave everything he cared about seventy years in the past.

She could easily argue, insist that they wiped HYDRA off the wipe (quite literally, at the time), but she knows Daisy isn't lying. She can see that sting of betrayal, something not so easily faked.

While she's not sure she's ready to accept it completely, she's listened. Now she just needs time.]

He knew he died. He admitted that to me. I think he knows I know something too.

I'm usually a pretty good liar but it's kind of hard to hide that much disgust.

If he's HYDRA, I would stay away from him as much as possible. Yes, he's in the same boat as us, but that doesn't mean he has to play nice. Especially if he knows we're on to him.

[Don't worry, she won't be able to hide that disgust next time she sees him, either.]

I think staying away from him is the opposite of a good idea. Especially if, like you said, he decides not to play nice.
