Hey ah... My name is Niko Bellic. I am from the Balkans. [With an Eastern European accent that thickens all of his words. His "r"s are heavy and he can never quite manage a short "a" properly in English. It's English he's speaking, too, rather than his native Serbian. So the translators on the MIDs take that into account.] I work in the Cargo Bay, and I am a diplomat for the ship. I'm also a pretty good swimmer? I have a lot of [unfortunate] experience with it. And I know some people here are pretty terrible at swimming. So rather than see someone get hurt I am happy to teach some swimming if anyone is interested. There are shallow places without much current, and places with pools.

I will do my best and make sure you do not drown.

Also for people that have some of the spy jobs- I'm not going to ask who you are on here. Don't tell me over MID. Come find me in person. But I don't want to see us dicked over again because this happens all the time, and being diplomat I want to be ready for the dicking that will probably happen.

So if you can, find out what shit could be helpful to know. [So technical.] Like, I have not actually seen any crime yet? And in tourist places, that is kind of strange. There are usually some bad areas.

Could be that I have not gotten around enough, but just look into stuff like that if you have a chance.

[It's a lie that's easy to see through at least. And, rather than accept it at face value, Niko just gives him a long stare like he's sincerely considering slapping the man upside his head.]

Okay, okay, I did recon and intel stuff back home. Not, like, professionally like some people on the ship, more like habitually. Like a hobby, but with a high chance of death. So...like extreme sports, really extreme.

[No particular formal training, no pay, it was just a Thing He Did to help the cause.]

Well, I didn't exactly have formal training in it. Just by necessity.

Mostly, I wanted to know if you could do what I ask. [He thumps his shoulder lightly.] We need this to work.

Oh yeah, I've got this covered.

[He takes off the straw hat and puts it on his lap, unbuttons the flowery Hawaiian shirt and stuffs it inside the hat's crown, so he's in just a nondescript white T-shirt, then leans forward with his forearms on the table and his shoulders rounded, his face harder.

He borrows Niko's accent, Yefim's Bobrov's cadence, the demeanor of the Goodneighbor guards with their pinstripe suits and "fuck off" attitudes, and a quiet, slightly raspy voice like a man who's smoked too many cigarettes and chases his nightly whiskey with razor blades. He makes smalls gestures more frequently as he talks, pointing and slicing the air smoothly with his hand.]

I do this a lot. Making myself not noticed to listen in on people talking, changing who I am, or telling them what they want to hear to get people to say things they didn't mean to say, I have lots of practice at this. And usually much more danger than this. Don't worry, boss, I can handle this job. You won't be disappointed.

[He leans back, drops the act.]

For this, I'm thinking rich potential investor will probably open the most doors. And I'll be doing nothing illegal, all legit, so even if I got caught out, I'll take full blame, and there'd be no big repercussions for the Moira crew. Like, the most they'd probably do is tell me to pack my bags and leave their swank playground.

Okay hyper mimic bird guy. Okay. I see what you mean.

You make fun of my accent I will not be so diplomatic, but... [He points a finger at him.] I really don't want anyone killed this time. I'm not an advocate for peace but I do want the people on this ship safe, so I want to be as careful as possible.

Without ruining anyone's good time.

Bird guy...I like it. [Deacon nods to himself.] Next alien planet, I'm totally disguising myself as a giant birdman. Think I can pull it off?

[He's smiling at the joke. Pondering strange, difficult and unlikely possible disguises is one of his favorite hobbies.]

I wouldn't make fun your accent, your accent is awesome. I totally want to borrow it sometimes. Before I came here, I didn't hear other accents too often. [But was always extremely interested when he did hear them. Even the accent he used naturally now started out as a fake picked up from a caravan guard from the Boneyard in California.]

But, yeah, no killing, got it. [He gives him a thumbs up.] I prefer to avoid violence when I can anyway.
