How to keep her face perfectly unreadable is a matter of habit, now, even as her hair swirls and shifts over her shoulders and around her face. Fellow guests of the Moira, my name is Medusa. I am Queen of the Inhumans and New Attilan. I speak to you today to ask you for your help. It has been some time since I last found myself on this ship, but I do not know how long. It seems some of those I considered friends previously have departed. If any of those I knew still remain, if anyone can tell me how many months I have lost, and what I have missed, I would be glad to hear from you now.

[ This part's a little trickier. ]

In addition, if there are any who have heard of the Inhumans, or those we consider our allies— The Fantastic Four, the Avengers, the X-Men— I would like to speak with you. To speak with any who have even heard of them. It does not matter if we knew each other before. I imagine that many of you may not have heard of of the Inhumans, even though we know of you. This is... [ Only a moment's hesitation, her hair billowing out in thought— and then she refocuses, and continues. ] A complicated situation to explain. So I leave it to you to decide whether or not to come forward. If you do not, know that I will not seek you out. I have no desire to impose meaning and familiarity onto strangers. I will respect your privacy as I would want my own to be respected.

[ And this one, this one final long shot in the dark: ]

If you are an Inhuman, of any tribe or city— know that you can always come to me for aid. The time for petty and superficial differences has passed. We are one people, and as one people I will defend you and stand for you as I would any citizen of mine.

In a universe with Avengers, it is impossible not to know of them.

[ She feels fairly certain that should hold true. The Avengers are probably kind of predictable in that way, given the people in the Avengers. ]

I wish to see if any of them are the people I know. It seemed politer and less intrusive to ask them to speak to me rather than force a potentially unwanted conversation.

You're worried that they might be from another universe or before they knew you or something? Yeah, been there and done that. It's weird. Waiting for them to talk isn't a bad idea.

Mm. But we have not met, where you come from?

[ It's an honest question. She doesn't really think this young woman- who she has some vague memory of- is really the sister of her former brother-in-law. Not in the way Medusa knows that to be true. ]

[ Interesting list of names. Matt knows of the Avengers, but not the rest -- and especially not the Inhumans; that sounds vaguely ominous, and he's fairly sure he's never heard of New Attilan anywhere on the map. But if she's allies with the Avengers... ]

I know of the Avengers, but not the rest on your list. [ He pauses. ] Where's this New Attilan?

[ She doesn't recognize the voice. After all, she never truly met Daredevil face to face, and her husband's decree made it possible to acknowledge the man's contributions in keeping her son alive and safe. But it doesn't mean that Medusa has forgotten her cousins' reports. ]

New Attilan currently sits in the Hudson River. [ She represses any negative feelings she may feel about that. Life is what it is. Medusa has to deal with the world as it she finds it, not as she wishes it to be. ] In order to increase accessibility to our scattered brethren. In time it will perhaps be relocated.

I'm acquainted with the Avengers, but I'm afraid I've never heard of the other groups. [She's at a bit of a disadvantage though. The only reason she even knows what she does is because of what Steve has told her. So either Steve knew nothing of these other groups either, or he had just left them out when he caught her up on his adventures.]

I'm probably not the best to ask, though. I'm a bit behind the rest from my-- our home. [She may be jumping the gun by saying "our" home, but they have the Avengers in common. Even if their worlds aren't exact, they'd be closer than others.]

I wonder what the explanation could be for that. To me, the Fantastic Four are the most well-known and well-respected group from Earth in the universe, and yet no one has heard of them at all. Whereas for many years, the Avengers were contained primarily to Earth, and sometimes regarded as menaces.

[ That's Medusa musing, though. The explanation wouldn't really matter to her. She's not one of those people who finds scientific mysteries compelling in and of itself. She deals with the here and now. ]

I hope you will not be offended if I say that, to me, it does not matter to me how behind you may feel you are. Any answer is worth hearing. Everyone is behind to my perspective, and I had expected that from the start. I will listen to anything you have to say.

[ Because every piece of knowledge she has about these people who are and are not her friends makes it easier for her to know how to relate to them, how to remake her allies, allies. ]

[ After all these conversations about the Avengers, it's a relief to have someone ask her something that's easy to answer. ]

Thousands of years ago in my universe, an alien race called the Kree came to Earth and implanted the DNA of every race they had struggled to defeat into an offshoot of humanity. They intended to create a race of superpowered soldiers, each unique, that they could use in their attempts to conquer and subdue. The descendants of those experiments are Inhuman.
