[After everything that had just transpired planet-side Steve figured this was long over due.

He called up a video on his MID and started recording.]

Hi, this is Steve Rogers. Some of you might know my name, some of you might know me as Captain America, most of you probably have never heard of either of those things. Back home I was a captain in my country’s army, fought in a war.

Currently I lead a team of people called The Avengers, we’re a group of super powered people who help protect the world from larger threats that can’t be fought alone.

[He pauses there because he sounds like a brochure. Back home he had earned the respect of the people who knew him, here not many knew him yet, and he was second guessing if this had been a good idea. He keeps going though, not letting his insecurities show through, he wanted people to be able to trust him.]

My point to this. The job I've been assigned is the head of training and defense and after what just happened planet side I think that there are some people who could use a course in hand to hand combat and some people who might want to hone the skills they already have. I'm going to put together a schedule and set up training classes. There will be an initial evaluation and from that I will split the classes up into group based in ability and current skill. I urge anyone interested to come down to the rec area or contact me.

I'm also looking for anyone interested in assisting me. Most of my knowledge and skill is with hand to hand combat with the assistance of a shield, which seems to have been lost in transit, but there are situations were weapons training would be more useful. If anyone has experience with that please let me know if you would be interested in assisting other crew members in training.

We might as well be ready for any kind of threat we could face. Our best bet at survival is being prepared for anything.

Oh, and Avengers, current, future and alternate universe versions, I expect you all there. Yes that means you, Tony...my Tony. I mean the Tony from my world. And- ok both Tony Starks.[Mentally face palming Steve.]

Thank you for your time. [He nods at the screen, hoping that went ok before cutting the video feed.]

[ooc: I will be putting together a list of classes and times that you will be able to sign your character up for oocly for future reference any logs you want to do with fellow players. A link to that will be up in the ooc com soon.]

[He's simultaneously amused and trying to escape. He isn't sure which compulsion is stronger at the moment, but he's going to respond anyway. Broski, you're just lucky he's at work and not in the same room with you or this could get awkward.]

Oh, I'm your Tony now, am I? Well, okay honeybunch. But you could at least buy me dinner first. I thought you old timey folk were supposed to have proper dating etiquette. [He rolls his eyes.]

Sorry there, Stevie dear. But I've got a uh... thing. So I'll be missing our little wrestling session. You know how ship engines go. Very needy things. Require lots of maintenance and the right touch. Raincheck. [He winks. Oh, he's not letting this one go, Steve. Not for a long while.]
narcissistictendencies: (Sounds exhausting.)

[personal profile] narcissistictendencies 2015-10-12 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, dancing. Classy. I didn't know you had it in you. You may just woo me yet, Rogers.

[Stevie, you are not going to win this game of flirting chicken. Tony doesn't swerve. And he's fully aware of that blush. This may just become his new goal in life: how many times can he make you blush?]

Well then it's a good thing you know better. I would never do anything to deliberately get out of being turned into a living punching bag for a 97 year old American icon of the pinnacle of health and physical perfection. Who would ever do something so ridiculous.

[The sarcasm is strong with this one.]

I can provide training with both bladed weapons and firearms.

I am also proficient in fighting unarmed.

Starting a defense regimen, huh? Well, that's thorough of you. I'm pretty sure most of my Avengers would appreciate the initiative, too. Maybe with reservations.

[He's only half paying attention if the audio is any indication. Too much going on to spend time showing his face?]

I've got some other obligations, but I trust you to take care of us.

Mm, good point...

[Okay, so he is paying attention. There's a little hesitation in his response now. He's considering his answer, and maybe suffering a little bit of guilt because he disappointed Steve. He doesn't need to hear it to know that he has.]

Well, I- I don't know how much help I'd be. I'm not the expert.

[But he does have training. The honest part of him chimes in and makes him feel bad for all the excuses. Is it because this is another Steve Rogers? Because he's not the one Steve is really asking for.]

I guess I could drop by, if you really think it would help.

Sign me up, Captain. I've been training with Bantos Rods in an Athosian fighting style, which probably doesn't mean much to you, but it would add some variation to the mix if you're looking for unique skill sets. I'm not as good as the Athosian that taught me, but I'm passable in a fight.

[Granted, he's not usually one to volunteer to make work for himself, but it would be nice to be the one not on the receiving end of a bantos rod for once.]

I'm also not half bad with a gun.

[ He'd figured Steve for military and then some - the way he handled himself planet side had been pretty impressive, and more than human. There hadn't really been time for questions after, but now that they're at leisure again, Clark can't help but be curious. ] I've never heard of anything like The Avengers. How did that come about?

[ As for the fight training - well. He doesn't think he needs to worry about that. ]

Apparently it's more common than you'd think.

Is that how you found each other? Super-powered people aren't exactly... common where I'm from.

I think I would like to take advantage of this, Captain. I'm afraid I don't have much fighting experience, but that would be the whole point in learning.

I will be there, most definitely. May I ask what it is that prompted this, though? What happened planetside?

Ah, Captain Rogers. You know, I was very technically an Avenger once.

[Okay, so he was an honorary member of the Young Avengers, and he'd left, but it counted, right?

Especially if he can fluster people with the information.]

I'm proficient with most melee weapons. Perhaps not to my brother's standards, but good enough for most things. Still, I don't think there'll be too many swords around here until someone finds me a forge and a supply of metal, so it's not a terribly useful skill to teach even if people were willing to trust me with it.

What I do can't be taught, but I'll be there. [It wouldn't hurt to have other means of defending herself in case someone finds a way to negate her powers.]

What happened on the planet?

[Are you sure about that, Steve? You might want some padding this time.]

I think I can help with that, if enough of them wanted to hurt us. Surface thoughts are easier to read.

And do you have a list of all Avengers currently on board, Captain?

[Matt Murdock is never going to show up to any of these, but Daredevil might depending on how this goes.]

I can provide training in hand-to-hand combat and... unique weapons.

I would be happy to demonstrate. And it would be easier to show you my weapons that way as well. I did not arrive here with all of them, but perhaps something here will be similar to what I am used to.
hyperkinesia: (Thanks for asking nicely.)

Well, if you're making it an order... [ Said in a light joking tone. ] I'll be there. But it's fine if I just sit and watch, right?

[ He's not enough at ease with anyone here yet to actually do any sparring. ]
hyperkinesia: (Those I actively try to avoid.)

[personal profile] hyperkinesia 2015-10-14 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Bruce can be helpful like that. He can imagine Tony's already being his usual stubborn and opposing self, if nothing else out of principle, and it's not like Steve has a whole lot more Avengers around the ship. Well, not from their actual team, in any case. ]

Alright, I can do that. I'm good at observing, so... who knows, maybe I can help a little.

[ If nothing else, then at least it might count as team bonding. ]

[ Oh no. No. Battle training? With humans? Starflight was the first person who would admit he was not a good fighter, but there was no way he was going to volunteer for that.]

Are these sessions mandatory? No one said we would have to be fighting anything. What happened on the last planet?!

[Starflight's sigh of relief was clearly audible.]

Oh, good. It's a great resource to have, I'm sure it'll be really helpful to the ship.
[He may have no intention of showing up, but that didn't mean it wasn't a good idea.]

How hostile were they, was anyone killed?

If it is possible, I would prefer to train on my own. I don't plan to be on the front lines.

[There's some complicated reasons to that, but he will wishfully hope that he can practice quietly on his own where no one will see him. For now, anyway.]

I became a soldier when I was a child and I have never went more than a month without fighting. I have already learned a lot about fighting things bigger and stronger than me.

The Balkans. My country had a different name when it began, but it broke up into many small countries during a civil war. [He doesn't know if Steve's world had a Yugoslavia, he just knows that there was a World War II for him, and that's the war that aggravated hate that lasted for generations.]

It's a good idea to know how to fight, so I hope you do okay.

[Even if he's hesitant to do it himself. It's a discussion that he's not yet managed to have- any normal person would want to avoid fighting out of weariness of conflict. There is some of that, most definitely. But half of Niko's reason is that he might remember sometimes he enjoys it, and he doesn't want to think about that.]

[Especially when someone comes from wars as nasty as the Yugoslav wars.]
