[ This face isn't one that has been seen over the network before. Or rather, not this version of this face. Snake has a facial structure that's nearly identical to Liquid, though their hair colors are different. He also resembles Big Boss, but he's younger and has both of his eyes.

Despite the fact that this is his first time doing this, Snake doesn't bother introducing himself. There's no preamble at all, really. He's not that diplomatic of a person on a good day, and right now he's pissed. ]

I just got out of cryo. [ He's broadcasting from his room, and despite how disoriented his awakening was, he's got a fresh uniform on and comes across as relatively put-together, save for that undercurrent of anger. ] How long was I out? What did I miss?

I know other people have been through the same thing. Did you ever have any side effects after the fact? [ He hasn't heard of such a thing, but being unconscious for any length of time is enough to make a guy paranoid. His expression is harsh and determined as he addresses the MID's camera. ] I think if the captains are going to put us in cold storage without our permission, they need to explain why.

[ With that, the feed cuts. ]

Sure. I'll tell you what I know. Which isn't all that much. People have been going home and people fight and other stupid things.

[Mostly he wants to play pool with his level-headed friend.]

Going home? [ Snake is pretty sure that counts as more than "not that much." He wants to hear everything. If that needs to happen over a pool table, then so be it. ]

I'm heading down to the rec room now -- I'll see you there.

Yeah, but you only get to stay for a couple of hours. I don't really trust it but I loaded up on some things from home. Meant to get snack food, but I forgot.

[Priorities.]

I don't really trust it for more than grabbing supplies.

And sure. I'll see you there.

[ Only a few hours? How does that even work? There are a lot of blanks to be filled in here, but Snake forces himself to be patient. He can ask Niko all about it when they meet up.

So he makes it over to the rec room, which thankfully is empty when he arrives. The pool table isn't hard to find, so Snake sets out two cues and then arranges the pool balls, leaning against the table with a cigarette between his lips as he waits. ]

[When Niko shows up, he has a couple of sodas (because he's had enough beer lately) and sits one down for Snake, before heading over to grab a cue.]

How was your nap? You look refreshed.

[He can't help but be a little bit of a prick in this situation.]

[ Snake takes note of the soda, wondering if it's due to the time of day or for some other reason. He doesn't comment on it, just picks one up and snaps it open.

He takes a sip, rolling his eyes at Niko's little jab. ]

Yeah, yeah. It's funny until it happens to you.

[ Not that Snake would wish that on Niko, but he figures they're at a point where they can give each other shit. ]

[He still chuckles harder at that, before leaning against the pull table. Really the thing that makes it funny is the huffiness.] Well, for my guess? I don't think they do it on purpose. You? Steve? You both were in there and you are both pretty heavy hitting crew, in a place where people can easily start more trouble.

Seems like it would have been better to keep you awake.

So. This thing with going home? [He gestures at the pool table.] I was able to get that and a real dart board from home. Which means you can carry some decent sized things through, if you can carry them.

[ While Niko makes a good point about the cryo, Snake isn't convinced. He and Steve might be more useful awake than asleep, true, but that doesn't mean that there couldn't also be reasons for putting them out for a while. Whether it's to scan them or to put something in them. It wouldn't be the first time Snake was a carrier.

He'll need to head down to the medbay and get checked out, just in case. But first, it's time for some pool.

It's hard to imagine that they could go home so easily, but Niko wouldn't lie to him. ] You said you didn't trust it. Why?

[ Besides the obvious, which is that nothing should be trusted on this ship. ] You gonna break or should I?

[It's a completely reasonable fear.]

I don't trust it because it is too good at choosing. Even if it's not home, you can go in with someone.

[He finished chalking his cue and goes ahead and breaks.] Then it makes an alternate universe that is both worlds together. What could she get out of giving us things like that?

[He's glad he got this pool table though.]

[ Riptide had also mentioned that people could go into this special Ingress together, but Snake hadn't realized that it would combine two worlds. That means that it can't be real, it's probably some kind of illusion, unless the idea of alternate realities really goes that far.

But if it does, Snake doesn't want to think about it. It's enough to make his head throb. ]

Who's she? [ Snake rounds the table and takes a shot, aiming to sink one of the balls and determine whether he's solids or stripes. It ends up being a solid that he knocks into one of the pockets.

Which is appropriate, he has to admit. ]

Alien lady that has been working on this Ingress.

[He does note, after the fact, that he ended up with the one with the stripes. He lines up a shot.]

It's real enough to pay off at least. I stocked up on ammunition and... Got a real dart board but I am still keeping the cardboard one.

[Nostalgia and all.]

[ Snake nods, taking a moment to feel over the table. The wood feels solid under his hands, the felt the right amount of scratchy. He still can't quite reconcile all of it in his head, that it's possible to go back to a version of their world for a short time.

It might be worth looking into himself, if only so that he can stock up the way that Niko has, but something about it rubs him the wrong way.

At the moment of the dartboard, Snake raises an eyebrow, vaguely amused. ]

What's next, a pinball machine?

[ A pause, and then it's back to business. ] What kind of work is she doing on it?

If my cousin were here he would be wanting a pachinko machine or card games. This is actually why I don't want us to have money on this ship...

[People like his cousin would be idiots with it.]

She says it is research. A woman- wait, hold on. [He ignores his shot for a moment to come over to Snake and pull up a network post.] Still it is good to stock up.

[As soon as Snake's done reading then he'll take his turn.]

[ A pachinko machine? Is that really how people want to spend their time? Either way, Snake can agree that introducing gambling to the Moira is most likely a terrible idea.

When Niko heads over and brings something up on his MID, Snake leans in to watch and listen. He doesn't know who the person talking is, but she's making a lot of sense and seems the right amount of paranoid, which he appreciates. ]

An Ingress that could send us back permanently would be good, but... only if it's to our actual home and not some copy. I don't blame her for being suspicious.

[ Snake is curious, of course, but maybe he'll stay away from the Ingress after all. ]

[Niko complete fucks up that shot, though seemingly on purpose; he didn't like the layout of the table, before he steps back again.]

What will you do if you go home permanently? The same thing you have been?

If so, and it ends up working, I would send some weapons with you. I stocked up on a lot.

[ Snake can see that Niko is lining himself up, but doing so gives him an opening to sink one of his own balls -- which he does after figuring out the angles.

He straightens up after taking the shot, glancing over to Niko with a shrug. ]

You're assuming we'll have any control over when or how we go back.

Okay. Better elaboration. [He gets out of the way for Snake to hit more balls.]

If you get to remember, and you got some control, what will you do?

[ Another shot, but this time Snake doesn't make anything in. He steps back so that Niko can have his turn. ]

I'd go right back to what I was doing. I still have a lot of unfinished business back home.

[ Miller seemed to think he could change things, but Snake wasn't going to rely on that. It was a long shot and he had to assume that things would still be as much of a mess as he'd left them.

A pause, and then he shrugs. ] If you want to arm me, I'm not gonna say no.
