The environment on the ship has been extremely hostile, more than what's typical for us, and that has to stop. The punishment system was put into play to discourage these kinds of actions, but there have been more after its installation.

This means that things are going to change, beginning with the treatment of other crew members.

As your captains, we don't wish to force anyone to do anything, and we'd prefer that everyone learn to live and work together to achieve our common goal, but that idle behavior we've adopted is now over. All of us are extremely displeased.

We're going to start with reworking the punishment system. This will mean the creation of new positions (arresting officers, mediation officers, etc.), and the implementation of new rules.

Please state your suggestions, thoughts, and offer yourself as candidates for the new roles.

I'm going to admit. My experience with law-keepers hasn't been great. The last one I met punched me in the face and cut the skin off my back. And he was able to get away with it because he was the "friendly fun-loving sort" and that made whatever he did to me okay.

But I sure as hell want some rules put in place that fundamentally respect the harm people are doing to each other. I'm not impressed with the threats and I'm less impressed with the response to the threats. People are getting hurt trying to "improve" things. And it needs to stop.

That does not make it okay. Whatever personality traits one person has don't negate actions that are inappropriate or disgusting. He should not have hurt you.

It does need to stop, which is why we've come to the crew to let them know that we're done with all of this.

Taking skin from me would save the life of another. But it saved the life of a genocidal sentient eating carnivore. That could help the town. Supposedly hurting me was for the greater good, and for that, he was still commended. Me, I was in pain and no one cared but my one friend.

Giving people the power to decide the greater good is a terrifying thing. I've made those sorts of decisions myself, they're not easy, and sometimes wrong. I don't want people hurt, but the balances between safety and freedom and rights and permission and necessity... This is a hard decision for anyone.

I just want people to stop being fucking stupid.

I'm sorry you went through that. No one should be disrespected in that way.

We don't want to pick one person or a group, we wanted everyone to decide together. It's not working. Crew continue to murder and hurt others.

We want that as well, if only it were as simple as wishing it.
