[He sighs. Why is this so difficult to consider?]

I have children here, of course I've tried.

[A wife who remembers nothing, and other family besides. It had been enough to make him wonder, enough to make him consider.]

The Force--the galaxy tends have "rules" about paradox while presenting nothing but. I'm not sure these realities are...ours. In the proper sense.

The Force? [That's what Leia called her powers, wasn't it? Pardon her while she goes on a tangent. Wanda's pretty sure she's mistaken and it's not the same thing at all, but if she could even be mistaken for one of them...

It's nice not to feel like such an oddity.]

[Oops. She might have been a bit distracted at the time by all of the holographic blood.]

Jedi, yes.

[Well, at least it's lightened the mood somewhat? There's a quiet chuckle in it.]

Sounds like word gets around.

[Not that any of them have been terribly secretive about it from arrival on-ward. Explaining it is more difficult, perhaps, but in combination with so many other peculiar talents, the proclamation so far seems to be an easily accepted one. The way it used to be back home, before...Not the point.]

Someone asked if I was one, but I've never heard of it or the Force. [She has the decency to manage a sheepish laugh. Whoops.]

Can you really...do things with your mind?

Uh. [Force, who described this to her? And how did he never pick up on this, if what she's saying is true?] It's a little more complicated than that.

[He sighs, recalling every lecture he's ever had on the subject, from Master to Master, and he's not even quite sure how to distill that down to something understandable. It had taken him years to really grasp it, and even now--though he'd never say as much--he's not sure he really does.]

The Force is an energy field, the energy field I guess, it's in and around every living thing. Basically. Jedi are those who have the ability to sense and tap into that energy, we call it "Force sensitive". So, yes, in a very basic way, but it's not just the mind doing it. All senses are attuned to it.

[But he has to ask.]

What is it that you can do?

[You can thank your daughter for this one, Anakin.

It sounds similar to some of Wanda's own abilities. Sometimes other people's emotions can have a near-physical component, if they're projecting a strong enough feeling, though she's not sure that's what he means.]

It's...hard to explain. No one understands it very well.

[She raises her free hand and lets a small wisp of scarlet energy dance between her fingers.]

And I can sense minds and move things with a thought.

[His eyes widen a fraction as he sees it. It's definitely not something he's seen before, though understanding that it's likely one of his (relatively) untrained children who've explained this to her, he can see where the assumption came from.

But scarlet is a loaded concept where he comes from, a color with religious significance attached, and not much of it good. Had she not prefaced this revelation with a clear lacking understanding of the Force, his assumption in turn might have come with quite the accusation.

Instead, he finds himself interested. The Force still exists out here, as it exists in everything, and her abilities too. There must be something at least vaguely similar in them.]

We have...stories of those not attached to the Order who still have the ability to tap into the Force. [Usually still not better than what his initial accusation might have been.] Witches.

[He shrugs at that. He doesn't sense anything dark at work here, and certainly not in her intentions when she'd trusted him with this. Nightsisters, on the other hand, don't seem to understand the concept in the least. Trust is a thing he finds in short supply, here and back home, and he's not about to make that worse.]

How did it manifest?

[All of this is, of course, completely lost on Wanda. The Scepter's energy was blue, the Mind Stone is gold, but this is hers so it never seemed terribly odd that it had manifested in her favorite color. Red is not such a bad thing where she comes from and Wanda has no way to know that in her uniform she really does look like a less-crazy Nightsister.]

SHIELD decided to call me Scarlet Witch. Maybe our worlds do have some things in common. [Even if accidental; she doesn't think this is "true" magic like Billy has.]

I wasn't born with it. There were experiments...I don't know what they did, but it was there when I woke up.

[Something something pseudo-scientific nonsense. Just poking at it made her head hurt.]

[Only the Sith pervert science to create that which should be natural. Of all the tenets he disagrees with when it comes to the Order, he had to admit that when they're right, they're right. It's unnatural, and in some ways terrifying, and in their opposing philosophy, that heresy stands paramount. A testament to illustrated greed and lust for power, and it unnerves him just as much now as it had the first time, or any other following.

Still. This was, as far as her tone seems to put it, something done to her, consent is horribly not part of the discussion. He can't fault her for something done to her. That he understands too, in a very fundamental way. Differing circumstances, obviously. Different worlds. But the enemy looks very much the same.

This meeting can't be a coincidence. Their being here can't be one either.]

Force experiments tend to be...taboo, where I come from. ["Magic," "powers," "sensitivity." They all seem to be words for a similar-enough concept. His expression softens a touch.] Still. We have what we're given, and I don't...

I don't think trying to fix the galaxy is such a bad use of it. Even if that world is not ours.

[Well, about that...the twins had agreed, but under false pretenses and under the strain of a situation Strucker created to begin with. She still shudders to think what might have become of them if her powers hadn't taken the form they did. Suddenly Strucker had to work with them, because giving them the same treatment HYDRA had given Bucky wasn't an option.

She'd hated every minute of it and had been very glad to slam the door in his face and trap him with Captain America.]

Experiments like this aren't common at home. Usually not with something like the Scepter, but I'm not the only one who is...more than what they were. Just the only one with this kind of power.

So many people died because we wanted to protect our home. I think I owe them this much.

You can't hold an entire world on your shoulders. [He sighs. Her circumstances aren't so different. He's chosen a similar path. He can't blame her for trying.] But I understand the need to try.

If you need anything...

[Can't she? Sometimes it feels like she has to, no try about it.]

It's nice to know there are other people like this, even if it isn't the same. [Not that she would know either way, but humans just aren't born like this where she's from.] There's no one else with powers like this at home. The other...enhanced people have different things.

[She hates that term but realistically, what else is the world going to call them?]

Jedi aren't all the same either. Well. Not entirely. We all have our particular talents, though some things are still common among us.

[He shrugs, and turns his head inquisitively.] Is that what they call it where you come from? Enhanced?

...when they're being nice.

[It's one of the better things about the Moira - Wanda is just herself here and no one feels the need to classify or other her. There are plenty of people who see her as a hero at home, of course, but she is also quite possibly the most feared of the current Avengers for her potential alone.]

So what do you do?

[It's a safer topic, and since she's shown him the scarlet it's only fair to ask, right?]

I'm-- [How does he describe that in the face of what he's just seen? Can he distill it? (Is his "destiny" still valid out here?)] I'm something of a..."special case."

Some of us are better fit to be historians, healers, pilots.

[And some of us are made to fight, he thinks, but doesn't say.]

Some of us are good at everything.

[He laughs. ~~Anakin, shut up.~~ He eventually shakes it off, though it's clear through that smirk that he doesn't think it's far off the mark.]

I can do things like..."talk" to machinery. I can fix anything. Fly anything. [A shrug.] It's not a talent the Order tends to hold in exceptional esteem. [~~And only the first of many.~~]

[He's very sure of himself, but Wanda smiles anyway on sheer reflex. Pietro had a similar laugh when he was showing off.

This is a good thing: Anakin's passed the test. Arrogance either reminds her of her brother or Tony and you really don't want to remind her of Stark.]

They don't? But that's useful. [She grew up in a warzone. Someone like that would have been in in high demand and Wanda can't understand why anyone wouldn't appreciate those talents. It's much harder to fix things than to break them.] You could help a lot of people.

I'm not very...good with machines. My powers don't work on them.

The Force, as most of them understand it, is a living thing. Machinery typically isn't. I'm not even sure how it works, it just does. I understand how things work.

["Things" being the operative word, meaning tangible pieces he can touch.]

Or I did, anyway. [A shrug.] You shouldn't be able to mindtrick a droid...a robot, they don't have one, right? But some of them here...never seen anything like it.

The Mind Stone never worked on things without one either.

[Leia was right. Whatever she has really is oddly similar even if it isn't the same.]

So maybe not a robot, but a synthezoid is different. And I don't know what the large ones are...

[She's hoping this doesn't mean he tried to mindtrick Vision - that would be a problem - but there are a lot of other robot-like creatures on the Moira. She can sort of sense the enormous ones if she concentrates, but so far Wanda's had no reason to actually see if she can mess with them.]

[No, he hasn't tried. Mind tricks, while he certainly can do them, feel like they often take too long, and he opts for more direct confrontation. Back home, he'd tried with droids once; if he could fix anything, sure that counted?

But nothing greeted him in turn but the sense of mechanisms that made up the android's form. Nothing resembling the living.]

They're not anything I've ever understood a droid to be, that's for certain.
