I think you should figure out things this person likes, but don't overdo it. Start with little thing they like. And let them talk a lot, because if they talk a lot you got a better idea of what to do next time.

Thanks. English is actually my third language. I speak Serbian in my place of birth. But I keep speaking English for practice, even though it can translate. I'm learning Khelish as a fourth but I am very definitely not good at it yet.

Just take it easy. I am sure if he can live with you okay, then he can go out with you okay. And sometimes a gift is good, as long as you know it is something they like. That's more important than expensive or rare. Just that they like it.
