[Hey, it's Luke Skywalker, sitting at his pastel desk. There's plenty of junk littered on it, mostly scraps of droid parts and tools, but the inquisitive observer will notice a few mystery vials of colorful chemicals, and a hypo of fast-penta scattered among the rubble.]

I noticed there aren't any service droids on the ship-- when I mentioned that to the captains, they said I should... make some? [Luke has a distinct look of 'what have I gotten myself into' on his face.] We definitely need some mouse droids and basic repair droids-- we already have good engineers, but this would help them out in a pinch. Do you think we need gonk droids?

[Well? Do you?]

Have you noticed any droids we could use? A 1B prototype couldn't hurt...

[That's right, request a droid, Luke might be able to make it for you eventually. He's serious. Though they probably won't have much in the way of lively personalities, who doesn't want a robot?]

Oh- and Doctor Yewll? Mr Banner? Ed? I know we discussed some kind of prosthetic... if I'm going to be making droids, I might need that sooner than later. [He kind of cringe smiles before cutting the feed.]

[Tali can't give him a properly bemused look from behind the opaque visor she has on in engineering, so she can only hope the way she's tilting her head at the MID will do.]

If I knew what a gonk droid or a 1B prototype were...maybe they'd be helpful?

[Also, this is definitely Luke Skywalker, but maybe she'll just wait and see if he recognises her before she says anything. She's had the awkward, 'hey, I know you!...you don't know me. Oh' thing happen before.]
keelahselai: (this would be a teary moment)

[She patiently waits out the brief silence, kind of wondering, though not really daring to really get hopeful that he recognises her... Or her mask, at any rate. But it seems like he doesn't, so back to talking about bots.]

We could definitely use walking...gonking batteries down in engineering. [OK, not the gonking part so much.] Maybe something that could clean up scrap, as well - in small spaces and such. We had a problem with, ah...with chewed up circuitry down here a couple of weeks ago and we had to clean a lot of it out by ourselves. A little help would have been great.

Not right now... The power sources and...mouse droids? Should do. I could help out if you needed, I've made drones before. [OK, Tali, it's not like you don't have enough to do or anything. ...A second's pause, though, before:] I mean, they've all been combat drones, but I'm sure I can get the hang of not arming them.

[Totally.]

[That gets a tilt of the head from her. Wow, sir, are you implying she's backwards?] They're useful decoys. The ones I use have a core about...this big... [She holds her finger and thumb a few centimetres apart so he can see on the MID.]...and the core generates a holographic form maybe half a metre tall. It's bright, it floats around the field and it generates enough electricity to...hurt. A lot.

There are mechs that can use guns, but I've never worked on one.

Oh. [Then she tilts her head, because that's...a weird question.] Up until a few years ago - defence against mercs and pirates, mostly. Some gangs.

Nowadays... Terrorists, AI platforms, husks, sentient plantlife, clones, giant insects... [That really is one hell of a list, now she thinks about it.] The galaxy's not exactly safe where I come from.
keelahselai: (what she order)

[This is something she didn't know about Luke before - or maybe forgot in the mess of other things going on.] Actually, my people's homeworld and a couple of old colonies are out on the Far Rim. I think we might be from different galaxies...?

[But to answer the question:] My people live on a mobile flotilla now, though. We haven't stopped for long in around three hundred years.
keelahselai: (excuse my french but i'm in france)

We've charted most of the Milky Way, and there definitely aren't any human colonies out in the Far Rim. Most of it's geth space, it's off limits.

[The slightest pause, and then:] Rannoch, my homeworld - it's in geth space too. We created them by accident, and they drove us out. That was three hundred years ago.
