[At some point in the early morning hours, your sleep is probably going to be assaulted with the sound of someone... singing? Also dancing, should you venture out of your room.]

[It's not a great dance. But it's a dance, all right. And probably wouldn't be that intrusive, if he weren't accidentally recording, and also weren't... you know...]

[Singing along. Loudly.]

[He's not a bad singer, somehow, but still. No one wants to hear a song like this before the proverbial sun comes up.]

[Sideswipe is oblivious, his giant robot headphones jammed onto his head, MP3 player in hand. Grooving to his spark's content in the hallway outside his room.]

[Oh. Well then. His engine revs sharply in protest.]

They're not me! I'm not just a car, dude, I'm an Autobot.

So what you're saying is, it would be a totally different experience? That you're not a fast car, you're the fastest Autobot?

Uh, schyeah? That's exactly what I'm saying!

Alright then— [And, door still open, Shepard hops in, looking expectant, a dangerous glitter in her eye] —show me!

[And Sideswipe needs literally no other prompting. As soon as she's in, the door snaps shut, and the car goes screaming down the corridor. Burning rubber.]

[It is terrifying. Also, exhilarating. Bless this crazy carchild Autobot. Like a patron on a roller coaster, she holds on to the dash, a grin erupting unbidden onto her face.

Sure, they were probably causing more noise now in the hallways than the network post itself, but hey — sometimes you had to live a little.]

Wooo!

[At least he remembered to scan the seatbelts that came with the car. Otherwise, this would probably be an even worse ride than it is already.]

[There's a lot of drifting around corners and tires squealing on floors.]

[... and ridiculous music playing over the sound system. Because why not.]

[If it's a rough ride, Shepard doesn't seem to notice, or show it. Her face is lit up with enthusiasm, and the drifting in particular is earning a lot of praise in the form of enthusiastic exclamations shouted at various intervals during the ride.

Hell, after a few minutes, every time she catches snatches the lyrics in the songs, she's singing along. It's a ridiculous kind of guilty pleasure, the kind she hasn't taken part in for a while. Chases are one thing — joyrides, another altogether.]

[All right, if Shep's singing, that's the Autobot's cue to join in too. While leaving tire marks smeared across a wall when he takes a corner too fast. He'll clean those up later. Maybe.]

[Probably not.]

[Despite having no lungs or need to breathe, when he speaks up, he manages to sound a little breathless.]

Impressed yet?

[She laughs easily, half at the breathless voice, smiling.] Okay, hotshot, I'll say it out loud — yeah, I'm impressed.

So, can all the Cybertronians transform into rad cars? You mentioned something about "models" before.

Hah! Knew it!

[He even does a donut in the hallway, in order to prove he's just that cool.]

Oh, right. Nah, not all of us. Riptide's a boat. Grimlock's a dinobot. And I dunno what Tailgate turns into, but I think it's a marshmallow.

Hold on, I was with you up until "boat". Dinobot?

Marshmallow?

Yeah, Grimlock turns into a... dinosaur? I think is what Denny called him.

And I dunno what Tailgate is, honestly, but he's small and white and kinda puffy-looking.

Like, a real dinosaur? [Grunt'd love that.] Or a metal one? [Grunt'd love that, too.]

Huh. [She tries to place something small, white, and puffy in her brain, and only comes up with:] A Pomeranian, maybe.

Metal one! Like me. Except dinosaur.

[Now it's his turn to pause in confusion.]

Pomer-what?

[Good god] A metal dinosaur. Wouldn't mind seeing that at all. [~~Can you ride in him too~~]

It's a breed of dog. They fit all your criteria, but now that I think about it... I'm having trouble imagining an Autobot transforming into one. It would have to be metal, right?

Hey, if he shows up, I'll point him at you.

[... He really does hope Grimlock shows up, though.]

Oh, huh. Some of the 'cons are like that back home. But nah, he's not like that.

Interesting. Can you ever change what you transform into, or is it something you're just born with? Feel like I'm getting a real education, here.

Kinda? I mean, I can be any racing kind of car I want to be, but not a heavy-hauler. Or a jet. I've got wheels for a reason.

What, just like that? So if I said a car model, and you knew it, you could transform into it?

Kiiiiinda?

I'd have to scan it. And it'd have to be a frame I could fit? Y'know?

I follow. Good stuff, though.

[She hops out, and gives Sideswipe (or, at least, the car) a smile]

I better get going. I'm still learning my new job, and I've been trying to pack in all the experience I can. It's been a blast, though — and if we ever end up docking at a racetrack? I'm counting on you to take first place.

[When she hops out, he transforms -- the better to show off that beaming grin.]

If we ever do, you've got a deal.

[Because WOW she seems like she believes in him and that's awesome.]

[Cybertronians are pretty cool man.

Chuckling, she turns, gives a final wave, and starts making her way back to the elevator.]
