So. Looks like the Ingress actually decided to send me something nice for a change. [Certainly nicer than the saberdart it had sent her before.] Thing is, it didn’t exactly do it in moderation.

[The MID camera pans to an large open crate sitting in the cargo bay, absolutely bursting with vivid squares of fabric in a seemingly endless array of colors, materials, and designs. Black and violet chersilk, silver cerlin, brilliant orange trevella, sheer, iridescent gemweb… It’s a stunning variety, the only similarity between the various pieces the general size and shape, perfectly cut, as Zam had demonstrated, to cover a humanoid face. There are also clearly far too many for any one person. Zam had gone through and picked out a few favorites for herself, as well as a handful of particularly expensive-looking pieces for future trade on planets, but that still leaves her with a frankly excessive number of the things.]

It would be a shame to throw them out or let them sit in my quarters gathering dust, so I figured I’d let people take what they like. [Does that seem strangely charitable of the shapeshifter? One who knows the particular political and religious significance of veils on Zolan might not think so. The camera pans back to Zam, eyes still bright from a hidden grin.] You can come pick a few up in the cargo bay. I’m sure we can find something in your color.

[The switch to a locked channel gets a raised eyebrow from Zam, though she can guess why when she hears his question: probably, he means to bring up Tarn.] Better. I’ve got a good enough supply of painkillers that the ribs don’t bother me much. Give it another few weeks, and I’ll be good as new.

[A slight tilt of the head.] What about you? Has You-Know-Who tried bothering you again?

That's good to hear. He, uh. I ran into him on Del Pas...sy? Whatever it's called. Was about as pleasant a meeting as you'd expect.

Yes, but why? Is it cultural? Religious? Preference? A matter of anonymity?

Foreign fabrics, possibly made of materials that don't exist in their world or woven in different styles... well, on the off chance Lark comes here, or Rosethorn gets to take something home to her, she'll be taking Zam up on this offer.

If there really are as many as Zam implies, maybe Rosethorn will even keep one for herself. She smiles.]

[She turns toward the crate, looking for her chosen colors.] Don’t some humans wear white veils when they get married? [Her voice takes on a teasing tone.] Should I be expecting an announcement soon?

It was worth a try. [She shrugs.] I don't know what I'm going to do with them, either.

[Her eyes widen a little at the question, but she keeps her voice even.] I wouldn't hold my breath, if I were you. White is one of the colours of the Royal House of Alderaan.

Pretty sure. [Zam pilfers through the crate with their free hand, not giving the slightest thought as to why a droid would be interested in a veil. The more the merrier, right? After a few more seconds, she manages to dig up several veils of varying shades of pink, though no two materials are the same. She lays them out in front of the MID camera.]

Any of these look like your shade? [Zam can’t quite keep the amused tone out of her voice looking at the droid on-screen now. Is he going to wear them as a box? Zam’s not entirely sure how that would work, but it at least sounds like it would be funny.]
